90% Of Gazprom Clients Have “De-Dollarized”, Will Transact In Euro & Renminbi

Following Obama and Putin’s “caught on tape” meeting Vine’d by the French President, we can’t help but wonder if the Russian leaders comments were something akin to “this is not over yet.” With “De-Dollarization” efforts already broadly under discussion, ITAR-TASS reports that Gazprom had signed additional agreements for clients to switch from dollars to euros and renminbi, “nine of ten consumer had agreed to switch.”

Via ITAR-TASS,

Indiana woman stripped by jailers and left naked for 7 hours

NEW ALBANY, IN — A mother of 4 says that while she was in police custody for a misdemeanor, she was stripped naked by deputies, pepper sprayed, and left naked in a cell for nearly seven hours.

The incident took place on March 30th, when 31-year-old Tabitha Gentry, of New Albany, was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, after an emotional fight with her estranged husband. She was taken to the Floyd County Jail and held on 2 misdemeanor charges.

Gentry appeared to be intoxicated and did not answer questions to the satisfaction of the deputies. In an effort to produce “submission through humiliation” — as attorney Laura Landenwich described — the jailers then strip-searched her, and paraded her around in front of other deputies, and left her nude in a room with no covering for the rest of the night.

Planned Parenthood’s CEO Makes More than Half a Million Annually

Planned Parenthood states that “nearly half” its patients “rely on Medicaid” to cover their health costs – yet Planned Parenthood pays its CEO Cecile Richards over half a million dollars.

According to the 990 form which Planned Parenthood is required to file as a “non-profit,” Cecile Richards made a cool $523,616 in 2012.

Planned Parenthood received $540.6 million from the U.S. taxpayers that year, but of course Richards says “none of my salary is paid for by the federal government.”  That’s pretty fancy accounting.

Could This App Create A Free, Secret Web?

Facebook is doing it with drones, Google is doing it with balloons that occasionally crash into power lines. Bringing free Internet access to the unconnected millions in developing countries is complicated and expensive. What if there was an easier way?

A startup called Open Garden thinks the answer is already in people’s pockets: their smartphones.

In the last two years, five million people have downloaded the company’s free Android app Open Garden to create wireless hotspots, and its FireChat app for iPhones and Droids to chat anonymously with other users “off the grid.”  The FireChat app suffers from a few bugs and messy, chaotic chat rooms, but what’s tantalizing about both services is that they need no WiFi connection or carrier plan to get connected. Just another person with the app, within a 70-meter radius.

These apps are among the first consumer use cases for a technology known as mesh networking. This refers to the creation of a peer-to-peer “mesh” of smartphones that form their own separate network. If at least one smartphone is online, the rest of the network can not only talk to one another, but connect to the web too.

One Ton Gold Shipment Into Hong Kong Revealed To Contain Just Worthless Metal

Two years agostories of fake tungsten-filled gold coins and bars began to spread; it appears, between the shortage of physical gold (after Asian central bank buying) and the increase in smuggling (courtesy of India’s controls among others) that gold fraud is back on the rise. As SCMP reports, a mainland China businessman, Zhao Jingjun, discovered that HK$270 million of 998kg of gold bars he bought in Ghana had been swapped for non-precious metal bars. What is perhaps even more worrisome, given the probe into commodity-financing deals and the rehypothecation evaporation; these gold bars were shipped to a Chinese warehouse before Zhao was able to confirm the fraud.

As South China Morning Post reports, police were last night making arrangements with a mainland businessman to check whether HK$270 million of gold bullion he bought in Africa was genuine after part of the consignment was swapped with metal bars.

On Wednesday, Zhao Jingjun, 43, opened part of his shipment in front of his buyer in Hong Kong and discovered the gold had been switched for worthless metal.

A senior officer said it would be the city’s biggest heist in a decade if it was confirmed that all the gold had been stolen.

It is a sad commentary when Mr. Hedges explains how we lost our freedom at an event sponsored by CAIR.

Did We Forget So Quickly?

Fresh off the heals of the Veterans’ Administration scandal and the illegal trade of five Taliban leaders for an alleged traitor, the pResident is in Normandy, France representing the United States on the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Or is this just another photo opportunity for Obama? Maybe we should ask the graduating class of West Point on their thoughts.

Today is the 70th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy, France. D-Day should be celebrated as the beginning of the downfall of Fascist dictators in Europe. At a large cost of American blood and treasure. To see an American Fascist dictator representing America at this celebration…

Bank of America Corp (BAC.N) could pay more than $12 billion to settle probes by the U.S. Justice Department and a number of states into the bank’s alleged handling of shoddy mortgages, the Wall Street Journal said on Thursday, citing people familiar with the negotiations.

At least $5 billion of that amount is expected to go toward consumer relief consisting of help for homeowners in reducing principal amounts and monthly payments, and paying for blight removal in struggling neighborhoods, the paper said, citing people with knowledge about the issue.
