The ORIGINAL Three Percent

God informed Gideon that the men he had gathered were too many – with so many men, there would be reason for the Israelites to claim the victory as their own instead of acknowledging that God had saved them. God first instructed Gideon to send home those men who were afraid. Gideon then allowed any man who wanted to leave, to leave; 22,000 men returned home and 10,000 remained. Yet the number was still too many, according to God:

(4) But Adonai Elohim Said to Gideon, “There are still too many men. Take them down to the water, and I will sift them for you there. If I say, ‘This one shall go with you, he shall go; but if I say, this one shall not go with you, he shall not go.” (5) So Gideon took the men down to the water. There Adonai Elohim Told him, “Separate those who lap the water with their tongues like a dog from those who kneel down to drink.” (6) Three hundred men lapped with their hands to their mouths. All the rest got down on their knees to drink. (7) Adonai Elohim Said to Gideon, “With the 300 men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the other men go, each to his own place.(Judges 7:4–7, NIV Bible)

The investigation into Thursday’s ride accident at the N.C. State Fair has led to the arrest of a Georgia man who operated the ride.

Timothy Dwayne Tutterrow, 46, of Quitman, Ga., was charged with three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury, Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison announced at a news conference Saturday.

“After inspection of the ride, we determined that it had been tampered with and critical safety devices were compromised,” Harrison said.

Five people were injured in the accident, which involved the Vortex on the lower midway behind the Expo Center. Witness accounts indicated the ride had stopped and people were off loading when the ride restarted, according to officials.

TED CRUZ FIRES UP HIS AUDIENCE IN IOWA: WE NEED A GRASSROOTS ARMY TO DISMANTLE OBAMACARE

Cruz's New Call for 'Grassroots Army'

Cruz’s New Call for ‘Grassroots Army’

Texas Senator Ted Cruz told a crowd in Iowa Saturday that grassroots conservatives need to band together if they want a shot at dismantling the Affordable Care Act, President Obama’s massive health care law.

“I seem to recall two weeks ago when every newspaper, every political TV station was saying that it is impossible for the president to delay any part of Obamacare. You guys are nuts,” the Republican Senator told an audience at a Defenders of Freedom event in Le Mars, Iowa.

“This week, the president and the Democrats are saying ‘holy cow, this thing is really not working,’” he added.

Cruz said he’s trying to build a grassroots “army” to help him defeat and eventually uproot the health care law, adding that he has even set up a website, “MakeDCListen.org,” for people to discuss how Obamacare is hurting them.

“Telling people’s stories about how Obamacare is hurting real people, right now. That’s how we’re going to do this,” he said, referring to continued attempts to chip away at the law.

Craven GOP -Thom Tillis spat ends in Craven chairman’s resignation

There has been quite a bit of internal drama with Craven County’s Republicans during the last year.  They’ve voted to censure state House speaker and US Senate candidate Thom Tillis for his efforts to meddle in area GOP primaries. Local party chairman Paul Hill — aided by state GOP officials — raised objections about this move.  Local party leaders ordered that a letter of censure be sent to Tillis and the state party.  Censure supporters on the ground in Craven County suggest that Hill balked at signing and mailing off the letter – a direct conflict with the instructions by the executive committee.

The perceived failure to comply with the censure vote — as well as other unrelated concerns about local party fundraising and operations management — led to some local party leaders bringing charges against Hill and moving for his removal from office.

Chairman Hill was allowed a hearing and afforded an opportunity to defend himself.  But this week, Hill chose to resign his post as chairman of the Craven County GOP.  By acclamation, longtime local activist Carl Mischka was voted in by the executive committee as Hill’s replacement.

Runaway US spying rattles European leaders

by ABDEL AZIZ ALUWAISHEG

I write this week from Brussels, where the United States spying scandal has overshadowed the two-day summit of European leaders that started on Thursday (Oct. 24). The scandal hit new highs with revelations that the cell phone of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel was among the targets of American eavesdropping. She is among at least 35 heads of state and government whose cell phones are reported to have been tapped by the US National Security Agency (NSA).
Merkel is reported to have called President Obama twice in protest. In an unprecedented move, the German foreign ministry also called the US ambassador to protest the operation. Merkel is so known for her reliance on cell phones that she earned the nickname “die Handy-Kanzlerin” (the mobile phone chancellor). As such, tapping her phone would access almost all her key decisions and discussions.

What all of this reveals is a spying agency gone wild. It also shows the slippery slope that was started during previous American administrations when procedures for approval of local wiretaps and interception were gradually loosened. Presumably, violation of people’s privacy is aimed at stopping criminal activity, not to gain political advantage. We remember what happened when President Nixon wiretapped his political rivals and had to resign in the ensuing scandal. To make sure that executive authority does not abuse that exception, most countries require a court order to undertake such surveillance.

However, it seems that when it came to foreign espionage, the NSA was not encumbered by either legal, ethical or diplomatic considerations. That it has tapped cell phones of some 35 world leaders, and hundreds of millions of ordinary citizens, including some of America’s closet allies demonstrate that it has not considered any limits to invasion of privacy, as the recent revelations in Europe have made clear.

Don Yelton: Unapologetic racist says ‘I’m not taking back anything I said’

Don Yelton

Who the heck is Don Yelton?

After his jaw-dropping racist remarks revealing the GOP embraces new laws to disenfranchise voters during a segment aired on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” Wednesday, the whole country will learn that he represents the dark under belly of Tea Party’s right-wing racism.

A proud and self-described bigot, Yelton is the North Carolina Republican Party precinct chair and belongs to the Republican Party Executive Committee.

Matt Gravatt pointed out in The Hill that after the segment aired earlier this week, “his racist remarks and indefensible commentary on well-intentioned voters throughout North Carolina have gone viral and a storm of negative press has risen over his role in the NC Republican Party.”

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” correspondent, Aasif Mandvi, sat down with Yelton in North Carolina to discuss the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn vital provisions in the Voting Rights Act. Yelton made it clear that he supports the state’s new ID requirement that many complain disproportionately targets minority black and women voters.

“The [voter ID] law is going to kick the Democrats in the butt,” Yelton said in his interview with Mandvi, blatantly admitting the political motivation behind the law.

“One of my best friends is black,” continued Yelton — unabashed — while throwing in the N-word at every turn. He explained that he supported North Carolina new voter laws because “if it hurts the whites, so be it. If it hurts a bunch of lazy blacks that wants the government to give them everything, so be it.”

Who Killed Michael Hastings?

maxresdefault_17Early in the morning on June 18, a brand new Mercedes C250 coupe was driving through the Melrose intersection on Highland Avenue in Hollywood when suddenly, out of nowhere, it sped up. According to an eye-witness, the car accelerated rapidly, bounced several times then fishtailed out of control before it slammed into a palm tree and burst into flames, ejecting its engine some 200 feet away.

A witness, Jose Rubalcalva, whose house stood adjacent to the crash, told Ana Kasparian of the The Young Turks news network that no one could approach the burning car because it kept exploding. In a simulated full-frontal crash of a 2013 C250 coupe, the car doesn’t explode on impact nor does it launch its engine 200 feet.

In fact, said Nael Issa, a Mercedes Benz dealer in Long Beach, “The car has a crumble zone, so when it crashes it goes in like an accordion. And in some cases the engine drops down, so it doesn’t go into you.”

Doug Hagmann: Silencing dissent by SWATing messengers of truth

“Fasten your seatbacks and tray tables in their full upright and locked position. We’ll be on the ground shortly.” That is the final warning aboard the aircraft known as America, which will be using runway 39A to taxi to the terminal of tyranny. Most of the passengers aboard the luxury aircraft have no clue to what awaits them, as the captain and crew have lulled the majority into a false trance of tranquility.

The few aboard the aircraft who were aware of their final destination tried to warn the other unsuspecting passengers, who have been immersed in their personal electronic devices, sleeping or watching the airline version of the corporate media, the mouthpieces for their fascist facilitators.

So it is in the United States today. Except those aboard this hijacked luxury aircraft who have been warning others of the danger ahead have been the targets of an increasingly aggressive campaign to silence them – to silence us – by any means necessary. This is the historical hallmark of the last warning of the final approach to the terminal of tyranny.

They are coming for us

NSA Director Gen. Alexander and Cybersecurity

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Kc5Xvr24Aw

Things would sure be a lot easier for NSA boss Keith Alexander if we had a dictatorship. Alexander said:

I think it’s wrong that that newspaper reporters have all these documents, the 50,000—whatever they have and are selling them and giving them out as if these—you know it just doesn’t make sense.

We ought to come up with a way of stopping it. I don’t know how to do that. That’s more of the courts and the policymakers but, from my perspective, it’s wrong to allow this to go on ….
