Obama launches diplomacy with Tehran after quietly accepting Iran’s current nuclear capabilities

Iranian President Rouhani conspicuously avoided shaking the hand President Barack Obama extended to his government at the UN Tuesday, Sept. 24, by absenting himself from the UN reception for world readers. He made this gesture under strong international spotlight to underscore the value Iran places on being respected as an equal in the negotiations ahead with the United States, Iranian sources stress.

Although his words were relatively mild for an Iranian revolutionary, Rouhani nonetheless made no concessions on Tehran’s fundamentals: “Acceptance of and respect for implementation of the right to enrichment inside Iran and enjoyment of other related nuclear rights provides “the only path to the framework to manage our differences.”

Obama knew the “handshake rebuff” was coming, yet he went through with his announcement of direct engagement with Iran earlier Tuesday. To give his rhetoric weight, he demonstratively instructed Secretary of State John Kerry to take charge of the pursuit of “face to face negotiations” with Tehran.

The link Obama made in his speech between the Iranian and Palestinians negotiating processes as the two focal issues of his Middle East policy was further embodied by his appointment of the same official, John Kerry, to take charge of both tracks. This has placed Israel at a disadvantage on both fronts.

House to move to debt ceiling vote

House Republican leaders are expected to unveil a bill raising the nation’s $16.7 trillion debt ceiling Wednesday afternoon.

The bill is likely to tie the debt ceiling hike to a one-year delay for core ObamaCare provisions, such as the individual mandate to buy health insurance. Republicans discussed that delay at a conference meeting Friday.

They are also expected to include a grab bag of other GOP priorities in order to convince members of their conference to agree to raise the debt limit. The hike is expected to be enough to allow the government to keep borrowing money for another year.

By moving to the debt ceiling, GOP leaders appear to hope they can tamp down fervor among rank-and-file members to use a government shutdown to defund ObamaCare.

The government will shut down without a new funding measure on Oct. 1, and the White House and congressional Republicans are not even talking to one another.

James Rickards: “When The International Monetary System Collapses—It’s Going To Be About How Much Gold You Have”

I had the chance to reconnect with James G. Rickards, Senior Managing Director of Tangent Capital and author of the New York Times Bestseller, Currency Wars: The Making Of The Next Global Crisis.

It was a fascinating conversation, as James indicated that the U.S. Fed ismanipulating every market in the world in an attempt to abort the country’s first depression since the 1930′s. As a consequence, he notes that emerging countries are abandoning paper currencies in favor of physical gold, in anticipation of a collapse in the international monetary system.

Speaking towards the recent non-tapering and continued Fed stimulus, James explained that, “The Feds are inflating the [stock] bubble as they did in the late-90s, and as they did in the mid-2000s with money printing and monetary easing…[it’s] just money printing. It’s another bubble that will end badly, but the thing with bubbles is they can go on a lot longer than you expect. I mean it could go on well into next year before correcting.”

Be Ready for Total Grid Failure

If you haven’t been in a bubble cut off from all forms of media lately, it would be impossible to have missed all of the warnings being issued about the impending loss of our electrical grid.

This isn’t just coming from so-called “gloom and doom” sites or from alternative media.  Major mainstream media sources such as ABC News, the Washington Post, the New York Times, and CBS News have all issued the alerts. Unfortunately, the hordes seem to be brushing these warnings off as something that cannot happen, because the reality is too unpleasant to even contemplate.  Many seem to think that they are far better to stick their heads in the sand and be assured it can never happen than to prepare ahead of time.

The United States, Mexico, and Canada intend to participate in a drill in November that will simulate the takedown of the grid.

An electrical grid joint drill simulation is being planned in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Thousands of utility workers, FBI agents, anti-terrorism experts, governmental agencies, and more than 150 private businesses are involved in the November power grid drill.

The downed power grid simulation will reportedly focus on both physical and cyber attacks. The antiquated electrical system in the United States has been one of the most neglected pieces of integral infrastructure.

The disaster drill is being described as a crisis practice unlike anything the real power grid has ever experienced. The GridEX II drill Nov. 13-14 will focus primarily on how governments will react if the electrical grid fails and, for instance, the food supply chain collapses.

Debt ceiling crunch no later than Oct. 17

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said if Congress fails to raise the debt ceiling, “it would be impossible for the United States of America to meet all of its obligations for the first time in our history.”

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said Wednesday he now estimates he will have less cash on hand to pay the country’s bills in mid-October than he previously thought.

Instead of the $50 billion he estimated a few weeks ago, he now thinks the cash balance will be closer to $30 billion.

“This amount would be far short of net expenditures on certain days, which can be as high as $60 billion,” Lew said in a letter to lawmakers. “If we have insufficient cash on hand, it would be impossible for the United States of America to meet all of its obligations for the first time in our history.”

He also said he now estimates the so-called extraordinary measures that the Treasury Department has been taking since the spring will be exhausted no later than Oct. 17. That’s even earlier than originally thought.

Lew also noted, as he has in the past, that his estimates are based on a number of factors that are not entirely predictable — such as the amount of revenue flowing into federal coffers on any given day.

This Is Why Ted Cruz Will Make a Difference

Here’s a very important set of facts about the Revolutionary War that every person who would call themselves an American should know.

  • During the Revolutionary War, only THREE percent of the people actually fought against Great Britain.
  • Only TEN percent of the citizens actively supported that three percent.
  • Approximately TWENTY percent considered themselves to be on the side of the Revolution, but they did not actively participate.
  • Towards the climatic end of the war, approximately THIRTY percent actually fought on the side of the British.
  • The rest of the citizens had no disposition either way.  They didn’t care.  They didn’t want anything to do with what they deemed to simply be a political issue.

Three percent. That was all that was required to make the “great experiment” a reality. Although the cost was high and against all odds of success, Liberty was given to our country. Ted Cruz is currently holding the floor of the US Senate with an unofficial filibuster to stop the funding of Obamacare. He is receiving support from Marco Rubio and Mike Lee. Three senators out of 100. Three percent trying to make a difference.

Do they have the support of 10% of the citizens? My personal opinion is yes. Are 20% of the people against this legislation? The polls put this number at over 50%. Will Sen. Cruz’s stand against both parties in the Senate be remembered as our Lexington Green? Only if the people understand stand up to support this act of defiance. One thing is certain, the Republican Party has been exposed for what they really support: a federal empire controlling the people.

During his filibuster on the Senate floor Tuesday taking a stand against funding Obamacare, Senator Ted Cruz took some time to address all the criticism he’s gotten from the Washington establishment, particularly on his side of the aisle. He took the high road, but not without taking a few swipes at the anonymous congressional staffers trashing him in the press.

Cruz railed against the “team mentality in Washington” before noting all the articles quoting people, on and off the record, attacking his singular focus on defunding Obamacare. He said he’s surprised to open the paper and “learn what a scoundrel I am” these days.

He marveled, “There is no courage like the courage in Washington of the anonymous congressional staffer.”

There have been quite a few anonymous Republican aides giving pretty damning comments about Cruz in the press, including the sarcastic musing that Cruz has to be “the leader of a secret cabal of leftists” and “Wendy Davis has more balls than Ted Cruz.”

Cruz also pushed back against the liberal media’s focus on personality instead of the real issue, saying, “Moset Americans could not give a flying flip about a bunch of politicians in Washington!”

Modoc County joins Siskiyou in state of Jefferson bid for secession

The Modoc County Board of Supervisors today voted to join neighboring Siskiyou County in its bid to secede from the State of California.

Board Chairman Geri Byrne said a measure to join the push to form a State of Jefferson was approved by a vote of 4-0, with one supervisor absent.

“I put the measure on the agenda because I heard from a number of people in my district that wanted to do such,” Byrne said. “We’re not saying we’re seceding today, we’re saying let’s look into it.”

Roughly 40 people turned out for the board meeting, Byrne said a standing-room only crowd in the Modoc County chambers. About a dozen spoke in favor of the measure with only two raising objections.

“This is going to have to be something the people bring forward,” Byrne said. “It’s going to have to be from the bottom up, not from the top down.”

The move makes Modoc the second county to join in the fight to form the State of Jefferson in less than a month. Siskiyou County passed a measure to start the secession process at the supervisor’s Sept. 3 meeting.

Make your own insulin – gather your equipment now

If you have diabetes or are likely to get it or are concerned about someone with diabetes or at risk, then preparation on this issue is probably the single most critical prep you can make in order to survive. You can always scrounge around for food, water, shelter but insulin doesn’t grow on trees and here life and death will be dependent on preparation. Gather your equipment now, before you put away food or ammo. Once you have your equipment then practice and make a few batches EVEN IF YOU DON’T USE THEM. There will be risk in using your home-made insulin, so don’t use it and risk adverse outcomes. The point here is that when you run out of lab insulin and your choice boils down to dying or using home-made insulin, then the risk of the home made insulin is preferable to death. Keep in mind that the operative word here is risk, not certainty of bad, or even sub-optimal, outcome. Modern pharmaceutical practices yield very safe medicine whereas a home brew can’t come up to those standards each and every time you make a batch.

Best and Scott who are responsible for the preparation of insulin in the Insulin Division of the Connaught Laboratories have tested all the available methods and have appropriated certain details from many of these; several new procedures which have been found advantageous have been introduced by them. The yield of insulin obtained by Best and Scott at the Connaught Laboratories, by a preliminary extraction with dilute sulphuric acid followed by alcohol, is 1,800 to 2,200 units per kg of pancreas.
