Santelli: “All They’re After Is Your Bucks!”

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFTo48N8i0I

From YouTube:

On Monday, CNBC host Rick Santelli broke down proposals in Washington to raise income taxes on the wealthy. He noted how policymakers are being dishonest about the Clinton-era rates, and charged that there is no interest in fiscal responsibility in the nation’s capital.

Santelli slammed the dishonesty of those in Washington pushing what he calls the myth that a return to Clinton-era tax rates would result in the prosperity seen in the 1990s.

Santelli said that those pushing this myth do not account for inflation, saying that those who made $250,000 per year in income in 1993 would today be making approximately $165,000 — a disparity of 35 percent.

“If the misses on income tax are this large when they’re talking to you over simple numbers, how long do you think it’s going to be before they get in your pocket,” Santelli asked middle class Americans. “All they’re after isn’t fixing the economy, it’s your bucks!”

I suppose this great victory for “free speech” according to the ACLU banning “Choose Life” license plates in North Carolina drives home the point that people have no rights until birth. On the other hand, let’s allow the distribution of “reproductive freedom” license plates: the lines are being drawn in the sand and this helps clarify the delineation.  Or even more to the point, the other side can “Choose Death” license plates under their free health care managed life policy.

Judge finds NC ‘Choose Life’ plates unconstitutional

RALEIGH, N.C. — A federal judge has ruled that North Carolina’s decision to issue special anti-abortion license plates is unconstitutional because the state doesn’t offer similar plates supporting abortion rights.

U.S. District Court Judge James Fox ruled on Friday that the state’s attempt to offer only the “Choose Life” plates represents “viewpoint discrimination in violation of the First Amendment.”

Fox last year blocked the state from issuing the plates while a suit by the American Civil Liberties Union was pending. The ACLU said the state also should offer a license plate supporting a woman’s right to reproductive freedom.

“This is a great victory for the free speech rights of all North Carolinians, regardless of their point of view on reproductive freedom,” Chris Brook, legal director of the ACLU’s North Carolina Legal Foundation, said in a statement. “The government cannot create an avenue of expression for one side of a contentious political issue while denying an equal opportunity to citizens with the opposite view.”

The Obama Recovery: Over 1 Million Americans Enter Poverty In Just Two Months

(ZeroHedge) – And we thought last month’s delayed foodstamp data was bad. The just reported foodstamp number for September was a doozy, with 607,544 new Americans becoming eligible for foodstamps, as a record 47.7 million Americans are now living in poverty at least according to the USDA. The monthly increase was the highest since May 2011, and with August’s 421K new impoverished America, over 1 million Americans made the EBT card their new best friend. It is unclear just which atmospheric phenomenon will get the blame for this unprecedented surge in poverty, which comes at a time when the pre-election economic data euphoria was adamant that the US economy was on an escape velocity to utopia. Instead what we do know is that in August and September, over three times as many foodstamp recipients were add to the economy as jobs (324,000). We also know that with the imminent impact of Sandy, which will send foodstamp recipients soaring, it is now looking quite possible that the US may end 2012 with just over a mindboggling 50 million Americans living in absolute poverty and collecting the $134.29 average monthly benefit per person, instead of working. Welcome to the recovery indeed. Continue reading

The Mysterious Case Of America’s Negative Real Wage Growth

Regular readers are aware that one of our favorite data series when it comes to demonstrating the quality aspect of the American “recovery” (the quantity is sufficiently taken care of with part-time workers filling in positions without benefits and job security in the New Normal) is that showing the annual average hourly earnings growth in nominal terms, which in November posted the tiniest bounce from its all time low print of 1.2%, rising to 1.3%.

The problem as noted above, is that this is nominal wage growth. It therefore excludes the impact of inflation which according to the CPI, rose by 2.2% in October, or, in other words, wage growth was negative in real terms. But it wasn’t negative only in October and November. When one takes the Y/Y change in average hourly earnings and subtracts the Y/Y change in CPI one gets a very troubling picture: wages have risen below the rate of inflation for 22 consecutive months, with real wages printing their last positive number back in January 2011 and negative ever since!

Concern that Assad may have passed some chemical weapons to Hizballah

Chemical weapons

Chemical weapons

There is growing concern that some of the chemical weapons the Assad regime has been pushing out of the Damascus area in the last few days were sent across the border to Hizballah strongholds in the Lebanese Beqaa Valley to keep them out of rebel hands. Syrian army officers who recently defected report that containers were last week removed from Syrian bases at Jabal Kalamon and loaded on vehicles camouflaged as commercial trucks. On the Lebanese side, the consignment is thought to have been split up and hidden at different Hizballah bases to make them harder to attack.

Israel’s US Ambassador Michael Oren, asked by a FOX TV interviewer Saturday Dec. 8, if he could confirm this, said he could not, but warned that any evidence of chemical weapons being passed from the Assad regime to extremist groups like Hizballah would be a “game-changer,” and a “red line” for Israel.  “We have a very clear red line about those chemical weapons passing into the wrong hands. Can you imagine if Hizballah and its 70,000 rockets would get its hands on chemical weapons? That could kill thousands of people.”

Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon on he other hand saw no indication Sunday that Syria was planning to use chemical weapons against Israel. He refrained from going into any of the three possible perils presented by the regime in Damascus as it finds itself in a knife-edge situation:

Half of America: I’d kill to protect my own

TotalChaos

Society would break down immediately following a major catastrophe such as an EMP detonation, which would destroy electronics, with 47 percent of Americans saying they would expect serious, sustained life-threatening civil unrest within two weeks, according to a new poll.

And another huge number say they would expect further deterioration after two weeks, but for many that development would be irrelevant, because they say they expect they would be dead by then.

The sobering results of the new poll from Wenzel Strategies, a public-opinion research and media consulting company, also shows a stunning number of Americans say they would be willing to kill a neighbor under such circumstances.

Are You Ready to Fight Back?

The analysis following this article outlines the current state of the Tea Party after the elections. What is missing from this analysis? The causes of the demise of the first Tea Party movement.

1. The Tea Party was taken over by the Republican party effectively in 2010. The GOP used this grass roots effort to take control of the US House, the North Carolina House and Senate with no reward or future support. While this is a matter of opinion, the debate on this statement can only start with the treatment of the Tea Party at the Tampa GOP convention. Any level of power corrupts and this was evident throughout the convention. It is continuing in the House under the “Boehner Tea Party Purge”.

2. The Tea Party was effectively demonized by the “race card”. I always say “thank you” when I am called a racist since it means that the point under discussion has been won by me. Instead of conceding a point, the race card is played as a last desperate attempt to win. Instead of fighting the label, the Tea Party response was half-hearted or the group/individual in question backed down. But to their defense, it is hard to defend yourself when the media and the Democratic party are against you. And the Republican party is not defending you.

What comes first – a Syrian chemical attack or a US-led military showdown?

Anti-contamination gear for chemical warfare

Anti-contamination gear for chemical warfare

For the past week, US officials have kept up a flow of leaks to the media suggesting that Syrian President Bashar Assad was on the verge of ordering his army to unleash chemical weapons. The details built up as the week went by, starting with the detection of “unusual movements” of Syrian chemical weapons units, advancing to reports that the Syrians were “mixing precursor chemicals” for the nerve gas sarin and on Thursday, Dec. 6, that bombs had been made ready with sarin gas for loading onto Syrian Air Force fighter-bombers when Assad gave the word.

Saturday, Dec. 8, British Foreign Secretary William Hague reported evidence from intelligence sources that Syria is preparing to use chemical weapons. British intelligence sources added that Syria’s chemical weapons are concentrated at five air bases and are being closely watched. They said contingency plans have been drawn up if they show signs of being readied to be loaded and used as weapons.

Who are the close watchers and what are the contingency plans?

In its last issue, DEBKA-Net-Weekly’s military sources disclosed that US, Israeli, Jordanian and Turkish special forces are spread out on the ground in Syria, armed with special gear for combating chemical arms. They are close enough to count the convoys carrying canisters, shells or bombs loaded with poison gas and their reports are supplemented by orbiting US military surveillance satellites and drones able to pinpoint the position of the chemical munitions at any given moment.

Musings After Midnight–Strategy Considerations in Moving Forward to Depose Tyranny and Restore the Constitution

This being the Christmas season, I want you to feel at home, welcomed, comfortable. “Peace on earth, good will toward men” is a worthy goal, although in our day to day lives we may feel that it is impossible to implement it. But still, we can try.

Be that as it may, events in the political and social realm continue to unfold around us, no matter which “holy days” we happen to celebrate. The same is true with Christmas. In spite of the fact that we may turn our attention to the Babe in the Manger and His message of salvation, love, and forgiveness, the world as a whole is still held firmly in the grip of sin, evil, violence, and war.

Here at home we continue to face dire circumstances due to the mind-boggling debt load the nation carries to the tune of $130 trillion when Social Security, Medicare, and the prescription drug program are added in.

When it became clear that nothing would be done to address any of these problems, given that Obama was reelected and the U.S. Senate was consigned to Democrat control yet again, many patriots opined on the fact that the nation is surely headed to collapse, destruction, anarchy, and then war. This is probably true to a much greater degree than anyone wants to admit. The divide among the populace is deep and volatile. Deep feelings motivate each side, and both sides are determined to implement their vision for the country–two visions that are as diametrically opposed as they can get.

COST FOR SAVING SYSTEM IN 2008 WILL BE COMPLETE DEBASEMENT OF US DOLLAR BY 2014

“With an inevitable day of reckoning, the U.S. financial and banking systems came literally to the brink of collapse in September 2008. To prevent the unthinkable, the Federal Reserve and the U.S. government created, spent, loaned, guaranteed, and gave away whatever money was necessary, and otherwise bailed out or acquired a number of failing large corporations

“Those actions forestalled a systemic collapse, but they did not resolve the fundamental underlying difficulties. Contrary to official GDP reporting, there has been no subsequent economic recovery.

The ultimate costs for saving the system in 2008 and beyond, comes down to inflation, which will be reflected eventually in the complete debasement of the U.S. dollarAccordingly, actions taken during the crisis-containment of 2008, and later, brought the outside timing for the hyperinflation forecast of 2018, into 2014.
“…the U.S. dollar, as we know it, is not likely to survive until the next congressional election in 2014.

Preppers Who Make Surviving The Apocalypse Even Less Fun

Being forced to endure and survive a catastrophic macro event like a monetary or social collapse is perhaps one of the worst experiences I could imagine.  Such a crisis leads to just about every crime and inhuman action in existence, and, the time required for a culture to right itself and rebuild is severely protracted.  A hurricane or earthquake or tidal wave; these calamities are short lived and easy in comparison.  The point is, as survivalists who are preparing to make an economic end-game scenario as “comfortable” to live through as we can, it is incumbent upon us to consider the kind of company we keep during the gambit.  Some allies will make that mad world bearable; others will bring the madness to your doorstep

Many preppers are aware of the dangers inherent in our progressively deteriorating nation.  Unfortunately, some of them are completely unaware of the dangers inherent within themselves.  Building a solid community of people to rely on during a collapse is absolutely essential, and the larger the group of liberty minded neighbors the better.  But, if certain ground rules are not established from the very beginning, a rainbow of personal issues and character flaws could very well destroy years of effort.  Care must be taken by all parties involved to ensure that internal conflicts remain at a minimum, and when they do arise, that each person is wise enough to resolve issues in an adult manner.

I hate to say it, but you will inevitably run into some folks that are beyond compromise and beyond hope.  Working with them is like pulling teeth…shark’s teeth…from your jugular.  Here are just a handful of powder keg personalities that will make the apocalypse more than a living hell for you and your friends if they manage to latch onto or take leadership in your survival watch…

1) The Self Assumed “Leader”

Iran to Start Mass Production of Home-Made Drones

A member of the Iranian parliament stressed the country’s great technological achievements in defense fields, including production of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and announced that Iran will start mass production of its home-made pilotless drones in the near future.

“Although the West and those who consider themselves as superpowers do not believe, the mass-production of Iranian drones will be started in the not far future, and then those who imagine to be superpowers should bow to the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Nasrallah Pejmanfar told FNA on Saturday.

He called on the West to acknowledge Iran’s capabilities, and noted, “The West should recognize that we are serious in our will and determination to expand and advance our technologies, the defense technologies in particular, and Iran’s announcements are not diplomatic posture.”

From YouTube:

Bill Whittle worries that President Obama and Senate Democrats like Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) are simply not serious about remedying the national balance sheet. Even worse, academics and the liberal news media are providing cover for their malfeasance. Is the nation destined to head into a monumental economic collapse that will imperil basic government services?
