Medvedev: Military Intervention May End in War, Even Use of Nuclear Weapons

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia, May 17 (UPI) — Russian  Prime Minister Dmitry  Medvedev warned Thursday military intervention in the affairs of sovereign  states could lead to war, even nuclear war.

The Russian prime minister alluded to the situations in Syria and elsewhere  in the Middle East, telling a legal forum in St. Petersburg the right of nations  to choose their own path of development is a universal value, RIA Novosti  reported.

“The introduction of all sorts of collective sanctions bypassing  international institutions does not improve the situation in the world while  reckless military operations in foreign states usually end up with radicals  coming to power,” Medvedev said.

“At some point such actions, which undermine state sovereignty, may well end  in a full-blown regional war” and “even the use of nuclear
weapons,” he  warned.

Spain, France and Germany Are Planning to Close Their Borders?

If the situation in Europe is bad, how would we know? This is not as simple as you may think. The economic collapse that is inevitable is so bad that we are being shielded from its reality by our politicians and media. The following excerpt from an article by Graham Summers gives a little perspective. The impact on the collapse of the Euro and European Union will be felt in the United States within a few days of their demise.

How much time do you have to prepare? The governments across the world are building their gold reserves now. Gold is up $50/oz. in the last 36 hours. These two facts show that time is short.

I Just Got Back From the EU… and It’s Worse Than You Imagined

Make no mistake, the situation in Europe is bad…  How BAD? Well, France, Spain, and Germany have ALL implemented border controls.

That’s not a typo. Spain, France, and Germany can each close their borders for up to 30 days at any point if they so choose.

We are ready to attack Iran, admits US

The United States has acknowledged the existence of a fully-fledged military plan to attack Iran, significantly increasing tensions with Tehran before crucial nuclear negotiations next week.

Daniel Shapiro, Washington’s ambassador to Israel, warned the Iranian regime that only “a brief window” now existed to settle the impasse over its nuclear programme through talks.

Issuing one of the most candid assessments yet made by a senior American official, he assured Israel that, if diplomacy failed, the United States was fully prepared to resort to military force to end the threat that the Jewish state says it faces from a nuclear-armed Iran. “At a certain stage we are going to have to decide whether diplomacy isn’t going to work,” he told the Israeli Bar Association.

Van Jones rips Holder over Operation Fast and Furious

During a radio interview Wednesday night, former Obama “green jobs czar” Van Jones broke ranks with current and former administration officials and ripped Attorney General Eric Holder for his handling of Operation Fast and Furious, the failed gun-walking operation that trafficked thousands of firearms across the Mexican border.

“I believe that if this was happening across our other border in Canada, we’d probably take it a little more seriously,” Jones said, implying much of the carelessness over Operation Fast and Furious came because many of the victims are Hispanics from Mexico.

“I worry sometimes that we just don’t value all life the same,” Jones added.

In addition to a connection between Fast and Furious and the murders of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Jaime Zapata, more than 300 Mexican civilians were killed with guns the Obama administration gave to Mexican drug cartels. Holder has conceded that more people will likely die as a result of his Justice Department’s operation, as many of the guns have not been recovered.

Regardless Of What The Propaganda Says, This Is Not How A Free Society Treats People

I’ve been in the US for a little more than 24-hours. And having flipped through the TV channels trying to figure out what useless drivel big media is passing off as ‘news’, I realized that I’m going to vomit if I hear the word “fair” one more time.

This concept of ‘fair’ seems to be dominating discussion of the US government’s dismal fiscal condition. The talking heads say that it’s ‘fair’ for wealthy Americans to pay higher taxes and bail the country out… or that everyone needs to pay his/her ‘fair’ share.

The whole logic is absurd: you do not ‘fix’ the country’s fiscal imbalances by giving the idiots in charge even more resources to squander… it’s like dumping gasoline on a forest fire. Somehow the debate seems to have missed this point.

This ‘fair’ nonsense is also very dangerous.  Just ask any three-year old– ‘fair’ is completely arbitrary. It’s like a Wiki version morality… if enough people agree on it, it’s fair.

In this case, ‘fair’ is defined in the sole discretion of those who are the direct beneficiaries of confiscating other people’s money. But let’s look at the numbers:

Institutional Traders Are Selling Off

Ignore the red. Ignore the 3.21% decline.Focus on the end of day trading. Each of the last five days has seen a decrease in the DJIA in the last hour. This is the time when programmed trades occur. When the large institutional trades are selling instead of buying, it is a strong signal that the financial “experts” are expecting a serious decline. Expect more bad economic news tomorrow and after the closing bell.

Fitch Slashes Greek Credit Rating

Fitch on Thursday sliced Greece’s long-term credit rating to CCC from B-, citing a “heightened risk” Greece won’t sustain its membership in the eurozone.

The country this week failed to forge a new government after elections there fractured its parliament. At stake is Greece’s ability to continue receiving bailout funds from the European Union and International Monetary Fund. There are some parties that support the bailouts, and the deep deficit-cutting measures that come with them, but other are strongly opposed to them.

New elections have been called for next month, however, the outcome is highly uncertain. Fitch said in its report that if a new government can’t be formed with a mandate to receive the rescue, it is probable that it will leave the eurozone currency bloc. The move, the ratings company said, is likely to send shockwaves across the private sector.

“A Greek exit would likely result in widespread default on private sector as well as sovereign euro-denominated obligations, despite a moderate sovereign debt service burden following the restructuring of Greek government bonds in March,” Fitch said.

Bank of America’s Stock Plunge in the Past Month

The above graph shows the price of Bank of America’s stock plunge over the past thirty days. The market has experienced a decline of 2.70%  but BofA’s stock has declined 19.62% in this same period of time. What are possible factors in this loss? Their position against the 2nd amendment of the US Constitution may be partially responsible. The Occupy Wall Street 99%  and their own stockholders have also targeted this bank:

Nationalized Spanish Bank Plummets On News Of Bank Run

Worry: A ¿1billion run on recently nationalised Spanish bank Bankia has sparked further fears that the 17-nation eurozone is about to implodeBankia hit by report of withdrawals

Shares in Bankia, the Spanish bank that was part-nationalised last week, plunged by more than a quarter on Thursday morning, after a report that customers had withdrawn €1bn from the bank over the past week.

The shares fell 27 per cent in morning trade to €1.21 in an initial reaction to reports in El Mundo, a national Spanish newspaper, that customers had withdrawn the large amount, citing information from a recent board meeting.

Spain’s stock market regulator placed the shares “under auction”, a process used to allow market participants to better cope with heavy trading volumes.

The bank later issued a regulatory filing, which said the evolution of deposits in the first half of May was seasonal.

“Bankia’s depositors can be absolutely calm about the security of the savings they have in the bank,” José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, president, said yesterday to 300 executives of the bank, according to the filing.

The statement added the bank did not expect substantial changes in the deposits balance in coming days. By mid-afternoon trading, the shares had pared losses to trade 11.2 per cent lower at €1.47.

ECB stops operations with some Greek banks

(Reuters) – The European Central Bank has stopped providing liquidity to some Greek banks as they have not been successfully recapitalized, the ECB said on Wednesday, confirming news earlier reported exclusively by Reuters.

The news sent the euro lower against the dollar, fanning concerns among investors and in Greece that the country may have to leave the euro zone.

The development highlights the weak state of the banking sector in Greece, where Greeks are pulling euros out of the banks in fear that their country may exit the European single currency despite the declared determination of EU powers Germany and France to keep Athens in the monetary union.

“As recapitalization wasn’t in place, the ECB stopped monetary policy operations,” a euro zone central bank source told Reuters, declining to be identified. “They are now in the ELA of the Greek central bank.”
