Preparing to keep people alive on medical equipment when SHTF hits. Try to solve this problem.

There isn’t one, that’s one of the reasons so many will perish.

When TEOTWAWKI arrives, power fails and things go south anyone depending on modern technology and manufacturing to live will die. Some quickly, some less so. But there will be no saving most of them and resources should not be wasted attempting to do so. Survival of the fittest is an important biological concept and we have thwarted it too long. We are paying the price now for having stopped up the filter in the gene pool for the past century. Among the first to die off will be diabetics. Some may lose weight and no longer need meds. Most will die. Fat people will lose weight and get healthy…or die. People who do stupid things and are saved by ER and modern medicine will die. The genome will be improved.

Bottle O2 in the green medical bottle is IDENTICAL to the O2 used in the large 300 cubic foot bottle used by a cutting torch. The concern with bottle O2 is to make sure the oxygen is hydrated properly before being used by the individual.

It is easier to store a couple of 300 cubic foot bottles of O2 than it is to store gas and maintain a generator. If it is a true emergency then simplify it so the situation is manageable.

Very good advice.
Some medical equipment like finger pulse and o2 monitors and simple heart monitors could survive in Fariady cage.
Having old meter or mercury BP monitors won’t need protection.
Having light for simple surgery, is a must.
Fluid replacement stock, could be a life saver as well.
I am sure you all have first aid supplies.
Of course taking a EMP or paramedic classes, is really a must.
Have you all stocked up on food based vitamins and essential fats, as well as food?

You are spot on when it comes to fluid replacement. It would be a very good idea to have someone close by that knows how to start and maintain an IV for simple fluid replacement. That same person might be able to acquire the proper fluids and necessary plumbing to administer the IV.

While not licensed here in AR, I was able to purchase IV plumbing locally. I picked up fluids from another doc. Find a friendly doc, and be sure to have training before you ask!
I suspect you can find it all on the web, I was able to get ivermectin without a Rx.

If you are going to do fluid replacement longer term, be sure to have catheters as well.

I’ve got a question about medical equipment that is implanted in the body. I have a pain pump for morphine for chronic back pain. What is going to happen to that pump? Is it going to just quit or will it malfunction and dump whatever morphine is in the pump at the time, into my body. I’m curious if anyone knows anything about these devices. Thank you

I don’t know about these devices in particular, but it can go either way, I suspect it will probably just shut down. I am a retired engineer and ND.

I don’t know about the pain pump or other implanted devices. You might try working that question into a conversation as a ‘what if’ the pump stops delivering medication due to a failure of some sort.

One word: backhoe. There’s going to be death. Medically and through defense. There will be no prisoners. I would think a pit would work. Probably something to have ready while you have fuel.

And a ton of lime….to keep the smell/flies down so you don’t have to constantly shovel dirt onto fresh bodies.
