President Obama Wishes Mitt Romney Good Luck in the Primaries

President Obama wished Mitt Romney good luck in the Super Tuesday primaries at a press conference on March 6, 2012. Really. I believe him since the president’s platform on health care legislation could not credibly be attacked in the election process if Mitt wins the Republican nomination. Governor Romney’s healthcare legislation in Massachusetts was the original precursor for Obamacare.

Let’s play a scenario between the two candidates in a presidential debate:

Media Correspondent:

Governor Romney, explain the differences between your health care legislation and national health care legislation.

Romney:

My health care legislation did not require a tax be paid when you sold a home over $500,000. I also did not advocate death panels and of course, it was only applicable to the state, not the entire country.

Media Correspondent:

But there must be more differences between the two since you have publicly stated that you oppose national health care legislation based on your health care legislation that started this ball rolling.

Romney:

Of course there is another big difference: I supported my health care legislation but I do not support Obama’s health care legislation.

Media Correspondent:

Mr. President, would you care to weigh in on the differences between the two health care plans as put forth by Gov. Romney and yourself.

Obama:

What he said.

The audience erupts in laughter. Really.
