Raising Boys to Fight Giants

I was reminded of this interview this morning from a comment. It has a great section on Pacifism.

Great interview, my life experience as a child my father always said if you get into a fight with someone bigger than you, pick up something as an equalizer. He died of cancer at 33, I was 9years old, the last thing he told me I was now the man of the family. My mother now had to raise four children on her own. My first work experience was at the age of 12, it was at a golf driving range during the summer months. Middle school was where I learned about self defense, I got into a lot of fights after school, so I went to the Whittier youth club and learned how to box. At 17 I joined the Army in 1968. I have to go back to earlier, my mothers brother was a minister and he came to the house once a week for a Bible study, I cannot stress how much this helped later in life. I am not a violent man but violence is necessary and called for at times, I have also been studying martial arts since the early 80s, you may say I am bragging, I am not this is just my life experience. If you do not own a sword, sell your cloak and buy one, now more than ever you are going to need one, TINVOWOOT.
