The gun used in last week’s shooting at Saugus High School was assembled from parts, a so-called ghost gun without a registration number, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva confirmed Thursday.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives are trying to determine who built the .45-caliber handgun, a 1911-model pistol. The weapon included a partially built receiver, meaning it did not contain a serial number.

“About a third of all firearms seized in Southern California now are unserialized, and that is expected to grow,” Ginger Colbrun, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles region’s ATF office, told The Times in August.

And, your surprise is that this is an unregistered, newly manufactured, “ghost gun”? I don’t suppose anyone has noted that the “Machine tool Industry” has moved from “Very Skilled, ‘knob and wheel’ turners” to CNC (computerized machines) that really employ computer people and “machine tenders”. Copies of any mechanical item can be reproduced with a serious amount of ease. No more need to have “Strawman” sales. You only need find the person with the money and motivation to build what you desire, say across the border where the Cartels run the country. For those of us old enough to remember looking through ” for native women running around “bra-less” and finding a man sitting on the ground with a “bow drill” reproducing a Smith and Wesson revolver that looks very much the genuine article, capable of doing what that firearm was capable of doing. Or, the “Liberator”, a ‘zip-gun’ built by General Motors (approx. 2.5 million built) to be dropped over occupied Europe so partisans could kill a German soldier and take his weapon. These are just machines and were all built. This issue needs to be approached more rationally by allowing the arming of a huge segment of the population that is “Law-abiding” and trustworthy. This has to be with the understanding that there will always be a small segment that “over-steps”. I refuse to be “lumped” with criminals, those that don’t give a damn!

Total BS. The shooting took place by a criminal. The gun was no more a factor than how many teeth the criminal shooter had. Whomever is making the focus shift from reality, to a “caspergun” needs to go, since he’s obviously a communist democrat opetative.
