Gun shops have been allowed to remain open during the lockdowns, apparently deemed an “essential function.”
However, for Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, the situation has got out of hand.
Speaking to FOX 11 LA, Villanueva feared the wave of people purchasing their first guns in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak could be a recipe for disaster.
“We will be closing them, they are not an essential function,” Villanueva said.
“I’m a supporter of the 2nd amendment, I’m a gun owner myself, but now you have the mixture of people that are not formerly gun owners and you have a lot more people at home.
And anytime you introduce a firearm in a home, from what I understand from CDC studies, it increases fourfold the chance that someone is gonna get shot.”

“I’m a supporter of the 2nd Amendment….but,” There’s that proverbial “but” the Marxists always spout when attacking the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Bingo! There is that but. It seems to escape the “but” folks that if MSM and all the control freaks from both right and left would find a new country or a job with substance, none of this crap would be an issue.
What the LA sheriff is really scared of, is that since his deputies only get 15 minutes of trigger time per year, anyone who gets more than 15 minutes of trigger time per year is better trained, and qualified than his deputies. And he doesn’t want his deputies to look bad in the press. Time of course of fire, times number of qualification sessions per year, times number of guns qualified with.
Pistol qual course= 2 minutes. Rifle qual course= 1 minute 30 seconds. Shotgun qual course= 1 minute 30seconds.
No one has to look real close now to see all the little aspiring tyrants and dictators already abusing their authority. Governors, mayors, sheriffs, and others are all now getting into the act. They are feeling heady with their new-found powers to force other people to do as they say. The most egregious today is the Gov. of Nevada signing an EO banning the use of any malaria drugs to treat Coronavirus. Seriously.
