I received the following comment posted below on my post on Tea Party Nation but what is the rest of the story?
Mr. Forrey has since apologized for his first letter and issued a retraction:
I made a mistake on this one, and I’ve learned a hard lesson: that’s for sure. What started out as a message for the members in our organization has turned into a hate-type thing. I never wanted to start any national boycott. I just wish it would all stop.
According to Forbes magazine, Target is the most giving corporation in America. For more information about Target’s company grants, click here.

Special thanks to Kevin D. for the rest of the story.
Wasn’t it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army ring their bells in front of their stores?
Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote. ‘Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event.
We received the following reply from the local TARGET management:
‘ Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education.’
So I’m thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general, do not meet their donation criteria, then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.
As a follow-up, I, E-mailed the TARGET U.S. . Corporate Headquarters and their response was the same…
That’s their national policy!!!
Then I looked into the company further…They will not allow the Marines to collect for ‘Toys for Tots’ at any of their stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would not allow families of employees who were called up for active duty to continue their insurance coverage while they were on military service…Then as I dig further, TARGET is a French-owned corporation.
Now, I’m thinking again.. If TARGET cannot support American (or Canadian) Veterans, then why should my family and I support their stores by spending our hard earned American (or Canadian) dollars in their stores???
And, have their profits sent to France .
Without the American (and Canadian) Vets, where would France be today?
‘They, most likely would be speaking German and wearing Leiderhosen and Dirndle dresses.
Sincerely, Dick Forrey

Please send this on to everyone you know to let Target know we don’t need them either !
We’re all in a position to reduce sales to these stores as soon as this get around! ! ! !….SO THERE IS POWER IN THE PEN (KEYBOARD)…….. I am not so impressed. I don’t NEED Target anymore.
Check Snopes.com
It is certainly true that Target stores do not allow the SA bellringers, all other statements posted are not true. Link to snopes.com article:

Seems like every year something like this goes around about Target-not sure why…maybe their competitors?
Snopes is not a viable source for accurate information. It is owned and operated by a decidedly left wing couple with funding from a Soros backed group. The information posted there is slanted left whether you recognize it or not. Research that to see the validity, and don’t use Snopes for that research!
Snopes is owned by a not-any-wing couple and are not funded by Soros.
This whole thing is a joke. Target is a US Company. never was Canadian, French, Portuguese, Malaysian, Turkish, or muslim… It is on the New York Stock Exchange and headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Have they moved Minnesota to France while I was not looking? Do you people work for Kmart or Wal-Mart? They have a great military support plan and do allow Toys for Tots and where did you get these so-called facts?
It appears that you cannot read too well.
LOL.. Target was started in MN and is still headquartered in Minneapolis MN and is owned by the stockholders.
