Back when welfare checks were delivered by the USPS (and not loaded onto EBT cards) a mailman was safe in any neighborhood. If they were attacked, the entire block could be declared unsafe, and the welfare recipients would have to troop down to the post office to get them in person. Now, even the mailman isn’t safe.
