The Development of Union Total War Policy

Union Brig. General John B. Turchin (Ivan V. Turchinoff); Former Russian Imperial Army Colonel influenced Lincoln War policy.

By Mike Scruggs- Before Major General John Pope was summoned by President Lincoln to command a combination of reorganized forces called “the Army of Virginia,” in June of 1862, he had distinguished himself as a ruthless opponent of Confederate partisans in Missouri and as an aggressive commander in Mississippi.

He encouraged his troops to plunder civilian food sources, burn homes in any area of Confederate resistance, hang civilians suspected of aiding Confederate forces, and shoot civilians in reprisal for Confederate guerrilla attacks.

He continued his severe philosophy of war in Virginia, drawing the resolute enmity of Confederate Generals Lee and Jackson. During Pope’s rise to fame and favor with Lincoln, he received much praise in the Northern press, until his ignominious defeat in September 1862 at the hands of Jackson and Longstreet at Second Manassas.

Good morning David,
John “Pope” sometimes a name says many things? i have found that names can be most revealing.
David,
Have been wanting to ask you for a while, are you too under the impression that slavery was on a natural course (YAh’s course) as some have said, to be eliminated and the “civil war was just an excuse?

This article alone should make us question when men recommend indiscriminate Murdering of “them” and their families!

Yes, i also believe this type of slavery was on its way out. And also can agree that there is more slavery in this world than many realise. Many types of slavery.
The men who ended up fighting in this war were being used as pawns.
Seems to be a pattern here?

Also a pattern of men being used and allowing themselves to be used.
i still cannot escape the thought that certain forces want nothing more than all of us (dirt people or not) to be at each other’s throats.

Agree wholeheartedly. There was no excuse for the cruel and inhumane treatment of the civilian people of the South by the aggressors.

All wars are bankers wars. The globalists wanted a united states that they would be able to centrally control. The US Civil War accomplished that, and Lincoln was assassinated for his efforts, again, because he intended to get rid of the bankers.

Sweet irony? You be the judge, as God will judge all of us.
