LtCol Bateman,

Having respect for your rank and not your corrupted historical knowledge, I suggest that you research the term “democide.” The confiscation of firearms from the populace has always been the precursor to tyranny. The second amendment of “The Bill of Rights” has one purpose, “to prevent in the future what King George attempted at Lexington and Concorde April 19th, 1775.” You sir, are the quintessential example as to why our Founding Fathers ensured that the right of “the people” to defend themselves against a tyrannical government was codified. Many of the Founding Fathers thought that the Bill of Rights was not necessary because it was so well understood that God given rights cannot be privileged to the people by man. Man’s right to defend himself does not come from government, consequently, that right cannot be infringed by man.

The bible says, “call no man a fool,” so I entrust that to God’s judgement. Being a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, I am very familiar with military officers. I understand how they think as I at one time aspired to be one. Having the aptitude to reach the rank of Lt. Colonel, I know you have the cognitive ability to grasp the true value of a free society and the necessary precepts that ensure it’s freedom to pursue life and liberty. So, I conclude that you are with malice and forethought desecrating your oath of office and have chosen as Benidict Arnold to betray your family, your home, and everything for which our Founding Father’s suffered, fought, and died. I stress most stongly, SHAME ON YOU, for betraying your country, your conscience, and your duty to support and defend the very document you are attempting to shred. I say attempting to shred because being an officer in the military, I also know that you understand the resolve of the good men and women whom you have been given charge.

Sincerely,

William A. Rowe, CTMC, USN, Ret.
