From Publius Huldah:
We last blasted the North Carolina Senate against the US Term Limits (USTL) application for an Article V convention (A5C) on March 24, after it had passed the House.
Now another nefarious group, “Compact for America” (CFA), has introduced S414 into the North Carolina Senate. S414 is not an application for an Article V convention. It is a “compact” between States within the meaning of Art. I, Section 10, last clause, US Constitution. CFA presents it as a “balanced budget” amendment; but it is actually a perverse and tricky scheme for getting pre-ratifications by State Legislatures of an amendment to the US Constitution which grants massive new taxing powers to Congress.
If you have time, you might be interested to see who is on their Advisory Council.
Here is the A5C application and the Compact which are pending in the NC Committee on Rules and Operations of the Senate . They can be heard at any time with little notice:
H172 (Term Limits) – Passed the House on March 17, and has just the Senate to go.
S414 (Compact for a Balanced Budget – BBA), Introduced March 30. “
US Term Limits and the A5C Lobby Show Their True Colors” reveals that the proponents of an A5C don’t believe their own narrative—that 34 states must pass applications with the same or similar language to trigger a convention; and that the convention can’t veer from the subject of the applications. Their strategists are well aware that there is no such thing as a “limited convention”; and they are expecting Congress to aggregate various applications in order to come up with the 34 States needed to call a convention.
If you have time, you can write a separate letter for each bill (it could be less confusing), or write one letter for both. We suggest you make your letters short with an attachment or link to the new flyers. Senators may be more apt to read them.
Let North Carolina Senators know, in your own words, that we’re likely to lose our Constitution should Congress call an Article V convention.
If legislators don’t hear from us on these issues, they remain uneducated and go along with the special interests. Let’s go get ’em! First, please leave a short phone message for these 3 Senate Leaders, and ask them NOT to bring up H172 (A5C/Term Limits) or S414 (Compact for new taxes/BBA) in committee or on the floor (see below):
Senator | Title | Phone | Don’t bring H172 in Committee (or on the Floor) |
Sen. Bill Rabon | Rules Comm. Chair | (919) 733-5963 | in Committee |
Sen. Kathy Harrington | Majority Leader | (919) 733-5734 | on the Floor |
Sen. Phil Berger | President Pro Tem | (919) 733-5708 | on the Floor |
Now please write all 50 North Carolina Senators, and ask them to VOTE “No” onS414 (Compact) andH172 (Art. V convention)
Copy the addresses below as a block into “BCC,”and copy your own address into the “To” box; and place thebill #s and description (i.e. Art. V convention or Compact for new taxes) on the subject line.Senate Republicans (28) –

Thank you for defending our Constitution!
When are we the people going to take our turn to dictate statute?
2nd that motion sir! All this voting talk makes me a little nauseated still. America is the joke of world it seems. Especially our voting machines!
I am still trying to find the most 2a friendly area before getting land to build in that ‘safe zone” get more people that home school kids and grow roots in a community of good people. They don’t make it easy though…did any state pass anything yet to create the “2A sanctuary cities or states ” not sure if correct terminology for it.. I just heard the idea and it seemed like a perfect place to live.
As voting no longer means anything..
What these pig commies are doing just gives is license.
Absolute.
Writing, voting, calling, emailing..
Its all a waste
Only the tree
Thank you for a heads up on this maneuver. I will forward it to my State Rep and write letters. Actually, OK has passed protection laws for 2A and legislation to declare Federal laws or mandates null if they are in conflict with our State Constitution. I believe North Dakota was the state that developed these laws and sought/ is seeking legislators in other states to carry them.
