I have said for years…The USPS is a poster child for everything wrong with the US Gov.
Privatize everything.
See Article I, Section 8, clause 7, US Constitution. Establishing post offices is one of the few enumerated powers the federal gov’t has constitutional authority to do.
What’s needed is massive reform of the postal system -- get rid of the federal civil service, etc., etc.
not a government job, Private sector regulated by the congress. Not civil service.

Much of that is the fault of the Con-gress. Expect a service to operate while restrained by congressional lassitude.
What if there was a “government shutdown” and nobody noticed?
Postmaster, such an infantile response from a disrespectful and incompetent person. Trying to fix? Then fix it, take giant steps to make things more efficient. I will say that the USPS is doing a good job in my experience in the last few years, but rising costs are the issue he needs to address.
