As a young boy, growing up in NC, I remember listening to Jessie Helms’ editorial comments on WRAL TV in Raleigh. He really inspired people to think about the issues of those times and was a great champion for the constitutional principles of individual freedom and liberty. He didn’t just talk the talk; he walked the walk. As a Senator, he was not merely a politician, he was a great statesman. He was a genuine American hero.
