A large part of our nation’s problems are due to the lack of moral character of candidates running for office. We have to make a choice between the lesser of two evils in many of our elections. This is not to say that we have to agree with every position a candidate holds in order for us to cast our vote. It is to say that until we elect moral and virtuous leaders, our country will not move forward.
Our country was founded on these two qualities and the church was responsible for producing moral and virtuous citizens. Is the church’s negligence responsible in large part for our society’s demise: YES. If the people of this country were moral and virtuous, the question of voting for any evil would never be considered.
“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion . . . Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
John Adams
Without the rule of law [the Constitution], we will not have our republic. If the people understood that our moral fiber is the glue that binds us in our core beliefs to give us strength as united States, we would never have to decide which evil to vote for in any election. Morality and virtue in society will by their very definition provide righteous leaders and statesmen.
“The only foundation for a useful education in a republic is to be aid in religion. Without this there can be no virtue, and without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republican governments. Without religion, I believe that learning does real mischief to the morals and principles of mankind.”
Benjamin Rush
Our founding fathers understood what was needed to not only start a republic, they understood how important these principles were to maintain it. Look around and see who is attacking our foundation and future.
“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”
Benjamin Franklin
The 5000 Year Leap by Cleon Skousen outlines 28 principles for freedom. These essential principles outline how and why our country was a “miracle that changed the world”.
Voting for the lesser of two evils is a constraint put upon by two political parties that are more concerned with power than freedom. A righteous nation will always be a republic as given to us by the sacrifice of many lives and personal fortune. Sacred honor would never address or condone the concept of voting for any evil. There will be no freedom without honor and there will be no honor while evil controls our government.
The chances that I will ever vote for the lesser of two evils are the same probability that anyone could produce a cogent argument to change my mind on being an honorable man.
