The government shutdown is an attempt by Nancy Pelosi to generate civil unrest to marginalize or impeach the President. Once the airlines are grounded by not having TSA security and/or EBT cards are not renewed, there will be consequences. For those who believe Pelosi is not at fault or it is the President’s fault, ask yourself:
- Who is willing to compromise?
- Who will not even show up for meetings?
- Who is going on vacation and government junkets overseas (or at least tried to)?
I do not know what strings were pulled to make Pelosi Speaker of the House but she can be removed by a filing of a motion to vacate the seat under House rules. Which is why the Democrats are trying to repeal this rule:
Democrats are also proposing to get rid of the “motion to vacate the chair” rule, which allows any member of Congress propose the speaker be removed. House Freedom Caucus Chair Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) used this to try to get rid of former House Speaker John Boehner in 2013, and Democrats don’t want to risk conservatives trying the same thing with likely incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
As the shutdown continues, I believe Pelosi can be removed and replaced by a more moderate Democrat Swamp Rat. Even if the motion is defeated, her position in the House will at least be weakened by a vote.
