The world’s leaders have been very successful in attaining their goal to equate freedom with Democracy. Freedom can only be earned and kept by a moral people. As an example, Castro’s freedom fighters were misled and their revolution only gave them repression. This is one of many examples where people will fight for freedom without the moral conviction and Sacred honor to implement it. Or in our case, keep it.
The majority of people in our divided country do not even know that we have been given a Republic. And we need to pay special attention to Franklin’s words of “given a Republic” after the Constitution was drafted. Our founding fathers gave us the gift of Liberty that the patriots fought for but more importantly, they believed in. They did not give us a democracy because they understood the definition of Democracy:
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!
Benjamin Franklin
The two wolves are our two entrenched political parties who have feasted on the bones of Liberty and enslaved us with debt. And our posterity: our children and grandchildren have been sold into slavery with a debt that can never be repaid.
Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself.
John Adams
Our Republic has been turned into a Democracy for a specific purpose and it is not freedom. It would be easy to state that the Democrat party is responsible for this transformation but both parties and apathetic people are responsible. We now know that our political class has wasted the fruits of our labor, exhausted our economy and murdered the Constitution. So where does that leave our freedom?
Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand.
John Adams
If we were a religious and moral society, we would not be having this discussion. And discussion, not mandates or speeches, must be the beginning of the rebuilding of our society. Look again to history, strongmen as outlined in “The Road to Serfdom” always have the supposed answer to save the country. But this road always ends in the loss of freedom and in the case of the 20th century, genocide. I believe that Mr. Franklin’s words were prescient: a well-armed lamb is our defense against “democracy”. Which is why our 2nd amendment rights have been under attack since the infamous United States v. Miller decision.
To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, —the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry, & the fruits acquired by it.
Thomas Jefferson
This quote from Mr. Jefferson is not well known but its premise is simple: we must be allowed to operate in a free market without government intrusion and regulation. It is the very foundation of freedom to be guaranteed the fruits of our own labor. But these fruits are now stolen and redistributed. As our freedom and our representation in government have been stolen and redistributed to those who value state entitlements over freedom.
Which comes back to point: you cannot legislate freedom. Freedom is a natural law guaranteed by God, not man or his government. Our nation is no longer free and the first step is to recognize this fact. Then we must start discussing it. And then we must decide how we will restore our Liberty and Sacred honor. So let’s start the discussion by this quote from von Goethe:
None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
David DeGerolamo
Freedom Declining Worldwide Despite Democratization
Freedom in the world has declined in recent years despite a sweeping wave of democratization in the last few decades, according to a new report.
Freedom House found in its annual “Freedom in the World” report that global freedom declined for the eighth consecutive year in 2013 after rising steadily in the 1980s and 90s. The pro-democracy group said 54 countries registered declines in political rights and civil liberties last year, while 40 made gains.
We had quite a few Cubans who attended military school with me and a number went back to fight Castro with disastrous results.
