More really good advice. I am going Sams today for some more oat meal, spam and dried beans.

Contrary to much modern medical advice fats and oils are essential, you need about 30-40% of your calories from fats, good fats, fats God made for us. Fats like olive, real butter, sunflower, grape seed, safflower, lard and fish oils. Skip canola, or any hydrogenated oils!

Do it now!

Yes. Coconut oil is very good for high blood pressure. You also need vitamin C which canned pineapple or mandarin oranges provide. I have been told that cravings for sweets, even for people who don’t normally crave them, becomes oppressive. Nutello and powdered cocoa are good to have. I have acres of wild blackberries which I am inviting people to come pick so they can put up jellies and jams.

Start canning food. We have started canning beans and meat. It is super easy and will last a long time. Buy an All American 921 pressure cooker and you can find the jars, lids, etc at Tractor Supply, AgriSupply. Amazon has the supplies but much more expensive that the previous mentioned two. You don’t need any special cooking surface as we do it on the glass top stove. Dry beans are not too expensive yet and look for meat on sale.

As a side note, there are less expensive pressure cookers out there. I just looked at the current price for the 921 and it has gone north of 400 bucks.

Spam. Spam, spam, and spam. That stuff lasts longer than us.

I froze cans of span, thawed them with no bursting; they should be OK for out door caches.

Store what you eat, eat what you store.
Nothing wrong with beans and rice, Cheap, stores easily and filling.
However, learn how to cook and enjoy it TODAY. That way you’ll learn what extras and spices you want with it to keep Mamma Happy.
I pity those folks that spend huge money on 25 year storage “survival” foods that have never opened those cans and tried them.
Wise now known as Ready Wise is the most “Interesting” to eat. The servings were in the tablespoon range.
But hey, it got me to buy lots of beans and rice so 🙂
