Cook County, Illinois had a severe storm yesterday. Torrential rain and wind gusts of 80 mph. We seldom get that. Huge trees down, blocking many local roads. Electric went out for 24 hrs. Almost 100 degrees and humid today. The electric just came back on. 2 more days of near 100 in store for us. I went over by a friends business to guard against looters. The usual suspects were out on the prowl. The police were busy. My observations. A lot of people didn’t know when the electric would come back on, so they went to motels that were unaffected. Motels filled up fast. People had to drive pretty far eventually to find vacancies. I stuck it out. Wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Folks that live in hurricane country probably know how this goes. Restaurants and stores lost lots of frozen food. Hurricane season is upon us, so prepare. Listen to SP1’s advice.

This was excellent. During the great depression wild game populations were depleted quickly. The U.S. population was MUCH lower and many more people were on family farms. Imagine how it will be now.

Our community just added a bee keeper, farrier, and wheat farmer who will focus on an orchard plus a new resident interested in keeping goats and another moving this fall who will raise chickens for food. Each member doing their part, using their talents, working together like an extended family.

This is NOT a pitch, we are nearly full, but if you feel the call to get out and you can’t afford a plot of your own, we offer a few RV sites and a cabin rental, cottage rental and shelter cabin rental and opportunities to make it here. Pro gun, prepper minded, fiscally conservative community. Click on my name. .

By the way the area you live in is so beautiful. High desert here. Not so lush, but not so humid either, I guess a trade off?

Wishing everyone much luck. I believe the U.S. and much of the world is in collapse even if many people don’t see it yet.

We also have commercial at the entrance to our community on the only Hwy. through the valley. Our next project is to get that started. If all goes well, people in the community can start their own businesses, real free enterprise. If all goes SHTF, it will be a prime battering location. Either way, we have planned for it. Our first business will be a farmer’s market/plant nursery since we have so many residents producing food products..

Excellent, timely, advice! Personal sustainability, and really, really small towns. This society is driving drunk at 100mph, it may get home OK, but what are the chances? Get out of the car now, last chance!

Listen to the man! TINVOYOOT!

as grandad, who survived the great depression, use to say…. those who have food will survive, those who can produce food will prosper.
