From the News & Observer:
A Wake County jury on Tuesday found U.S. Senate candidate Greg Brannon misled two investors in a startup tech company he helped launch.
The verdict against him came after eight hours of deliberation in a case spanned two weeks and will likely pose political problems for the Republican contender.
Brannon reacted in silence, bowing his head as the verdict was read. A co-defendant, Robert Rice, was cleared of responsibility in the case.
“I completely disagree with this verdict and feel that I was treated unfairly by the court,” Brannon said following the reading of the verdict. “I will defend my integrity and will be appealing this decision.”

As Dr. Brannon’s star is rising, he can expect character attacks from multiple sources. In typical fashion, the News & Observer puts out a flashy headline and a sound bite video. They could have put a link back for more information on YouTube. But then there is a reason that the “News & Disturber” (as it is known in Raleigh) has been hurt by declines in advertising revenue and circulation.
