Perception Is Truth

Have our perceptions replaced truth? The phrase “perception is truth” is a measure of our morality and honor. When we have to consider perceptions instead of the truth, we have truly become the sheeple that Pravda labeled the American people last year. This is the foundation of propaganda that leads down the road to tyranny.

Let’s consider the following quotes on propaganda:

“Propaganda must be planned and executed by only one authority.”
“Credibility alone must determine whether propaganda output should be true or false.”
“Propaganda must label events and people with distinctive phrases or slogans.”
“Propaganda must facilitate the displacement of aggression by specifying the targets for hatred.”
“Black rather than white propaganda may be employed when the latter is less credible or produces undesirable effects. ”
“To be perceived, propaganda must evoke the interest of an audience and must be transmitted through an attention-getting communications medium.”
“Propaganda to the home front must create an optimum anxiety level.”

All of the following quotes are from the same master of propaganda: Joseph Goebbels. His position in NAZI Germany was the Reich Minister for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda.

Has the government used propaganda successfully to make our perceptions become truth? Judge for yourself:

Global Warming (Climate Change)
Health Care Will Save the Country Money
The Recession Is Over
Passing the Economic Stimulus Bill Will Ensure Unemployment Will Be Capped at 8%

Normally propaganda only works on people who lack critical thinking skills and/or who are apathetic. But then there are the cases where the propaganda is so subtle and the foundation upon which it is based over repeated iterations lends credence to its validity so that we forget to question boldly and fall into a trap of dishonor.

Honor does not hide behind ignorance or the litany “I will not take sides in this”. Truth is not what we perceive but what we can prove. We didn’t take the time or have the honor in the past to stand up for the truth and now we will have the government and the leaders that we deserve. This well known quote from Samuel Adams concerning his fellow colonists showed his distain for his fellow colonists who would not stand up for freedom:

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!”

We need to apply this same thought to our leaders who love power and glory rather than liberty and our children’s future: go from us in peace.
