To wit: “understanding the operational issues and constraints that States face, and in the interest of preserving maximum flexibility, we are directing States to hold their November issuance files and delay transmission to State electronic benefit transfer (EBT) vendors until further notice.” In other words, as Fox13News summarizes, “States across the country are being told to stop the supplemental nutrition assistance program for the month of November, pending further notice.”

This is going to be a game changer. We will find out if A. People really don’t need food stamps to eat or B. If those who have been itching for a reason bring it on in the name of food stamp recipients. Either way, I think folks had better hunker down. Right now it looks as though there is an impasse, the Dems refusing any compromise, period. This means they are wanting catastrophe and hope to blame it on the Reps. So much for caring about America.
I feel sorry for the disadvantaged children, elderly and infirm, they will be the soonest and hardest
hit by this. Too bad most of America can’t see the Democrats refusal to delay the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and refusing to work with conservatives, is the driving force
behind what’s coming.
Ironically named the PPACA, it does neither. Don’t tell me Obama doesn’t have a sense of humor.
Maybe instead of steel gates piled up in front of the White House, all the SNAP users could just assemble there. Isn’t he supposed to be their savior ?
[…] Alert: Foodstamp Program Shutdown Imminent […]
I received the following email from someone whom I have the greatest respect concerning this article’s content:
Disinformation and misinformation at its finest. This has absolutely nothing to do with the so-called government shutdown. It has to do with the Farm Bill, which was passed in the House without the SNAP appropriation due to the Republicans asking for a minimal cut (2% I believe) in the proposed increase of (5% I believe as this is all off the cuff). The Democrats fought back with this strategy. So, even if the so-called government shutdown ended tomorrow, or an hour from now, it would not fund the SNAP program, but the media will spin it for Obama as always to his benefit.
Interestingly enough -- this is still an outstanding issue. Either congress will have to initiate a new bill specifically to fund SNAP, and get it to the president’s desk before the end of the month, or the SNAP program will effectively be eliminated due to a lack of funding…
No more EBT cards (food stamp cards) would mean a lot of social upheaval, and the scenario poses a real risk of increased violence in particular areas, as I have previously noted.
