Another Obama Failure: Iran Releases UAV Based on Captured US Drone

This photo released on Dec. 8, by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, claims to show the chief of the aerospace division of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh (l.) listening to an unidentified colonel as he points to US RQ-170 Sentinel drone.

Remember the US drone captured by Iran in December, 2011? The Christian Science Monitor reported the following on December 9, 2011:

“Strategically, the US will suffer from the loss of this because … it has radar, a fuselage, and coating that makes it low-observable, and the electronics inside are also very high-tech.”

Iran has incorporated the radar resistant fiberglass used in the construction of the RQ-170 drone to build their next generation of UAV drones. This is not working out too well for Israel and we can only hope that they have not incorporated it into their speed boats to be used in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

After the Vice Presidential debate late week confirmed that Iran now has enough nuclear material to build five bombs, one radar resistant drone loaded with enriched uranium crashing into Wall Street would bring down the financial hub of the Western world. I guess Joe Biden was wrong saying that we have nothing to fear since Iran has no means to detonate a nuclear warhead.

Iran to Use New Drone for Air Defense, Bombing Missions

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian military commander said that the country’s newly unveiled Haazem (Determination) drones are multi-purpose and multi-range vehicles with air-defense, reconnaissance and aerial bombardment capabilities.

Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli stressed that Iran’s defense industries enjoy a high capability in designing and producing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and stated that Haazem is a drone designed and manufactured by Iranian air defense experts in three short, mid and long range models and for air defense missions.

He said that the drone can be used as a target for air defense systems and also for reconnaissance missions.

Esmayeeli said the UAV can also be equipped with missiles and used for aerial bombardments as well.

Last month, Iran announced that it has started using UAVs for its air defense units as part of its broader plans for strengthening the country’s air defense capability.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion of the National Day of Air Defense here in Tehran on September 3, Esmayeeli said Iran has equipped its air defense units with Haazem drones.
