On X, “your voice” is still being suppressed if you’re not PAYING to publish your tweets. Hello? Publishers pay writers in the US.
I’m not so idealistic as to believe that Emmanuel Macron, Mel Gibson, or Elon Musk actually used to follow my tweets themselves. I wasn’t disappointed that elected officials didn’t even pretend to. The very rich and famous couldn’t possibly read all their own tweets, any more than they could read all their mail or take all their calls. They have staff who tally the general “vote” and report, usually, things like “500 messages in favor of — and 700 messages opposing it.” This is not new. MvS has connections who are still in the federal government and probably knows who’s actually reading his tweets in the name of public figures, department heads, etc. Most people have no idea. But somebody did use to read them. Now X has an algorithm to make sure that the professional message sorters don’t even see our messages.
I miss Twitter so I go back and check now and then…X is still not a valid way to thank your Congressman for anything s/he’s done right.
