I originally posted this on September 7th, 2012, just 4 days before the attack in Benghazi. I am republishing it now because I believe folks need to be reminded that what you don’t know *can* hurt you and your family.
This is a timely issue, folks – read it:
Certainly, there will be differences of opinion on this rather sensitive topic – but for anyone who intends to protect their family and community, it is high time your family, your group, and your allies had this conversation. Identify carefully what you consider trigger points, as well as establishing escalation markers which should be automatically responded to by group/community members. Talk through the scenarios that could have immediate effects on your community, how you will communicate that these points have been reached, and how your members will automatically respond – if you don’t plan for these before hand, your response time will be delayed [at a minimum], and this may ultimately deny your group the ability to achieve full protective force due to roadblocks, curfews, hazards of travel, etc.
You will not get a second chance to be ready for this moment.
Does your group have someone monitoring news and a local police scanner? Do you have a phone tree for alerting and notifications? Do your people carry portable two-way radios so you can communicate in the event that the cell/phone networks are shut down?
How long would it take your group to respond to news like this, were it in your home town:
WE HAVE BEEN WARNED
