For anyone without insurance, don’t be afraid to talk to the doctor or their business manager directly. I had a bill for over $6k from an orthopedic surgeon that was not covered even though I had insurance, I talked to their business manager, and they offered for me to pay $1300 without any fuss. Billing for people without insurance is always way higher than what insurance actually pays, part of padding their books, and they would rather get something than nothing at all.
