Logistics folks, logistics. 3 days without safe water your battle rattle is useless except for someone else that has safe water and logistics figured out.
Yes, there are lots of foreign and domestic threats to our life and liberty these days, that is why many have armed themselves.
Patriots have had decades to get ready, they should have the rule of two and three covered.
Then there is an old saying “arm chair generals study tactics and professionals study logistics”. Having lots of guns and amo is great, but as you implied MRE’s, spam singles and a water purifier is essential as well!

As I’m seen as not threatening, folks chat me up often about “current events” and I see just how massively over gunned, and dependent upon easily destroyed water systems most are.
“I have a WELL” they tell me proudly.
I say turn off your main power breaker and tell me about that again.

I have a Water filter, they tell me proudly.
I ask them to use it this weekend for their family, hauling the raw (unfiltered) water to the house for toilets and such.
The honest ones after a weekend power OFF exercise tell me that’s a difficult task. As in many Man Hours per day to maintain anything like a decent family lifestyle.
Like doing dishes and washing clothing. 80 pounds per 5 gallon bucket, how far is that creek?

How much can you flee from your home with again?

Protect your family and trusted friends. You might need to flee to those trusted friends someday, or vice versa.
Michael, when we first started homesteading, we had enough money to start the house, get a septic system and a well. Well the well was dry, all 200′, so for the next three years I carried every drop we used. I am freakey about water, I have three sources and three ways to purify it.
Living in a very rural area we have regular power outages and now have three ways to generate power.

Regarding the front porch, the book “Duffers drift” has very good advice on that subject.
I would also recommend a survival cache, so you can leave your house in your PJ’s and still be able to manage.

If at all possible gravity feed to your home and garden.
If you can’t, use solar to run a pump into a holding tank that gravity feeds to your house. If your source is a deep well, get a solar pump with a spare and enough panels and batteries now, don’t wait, you can’t do without water and it is difficult to store enough.

I started looking for a definition of “Irish Democracy.” Found all sorts of descriptions of government in the Republic of Ireland – but nothing that described the unorganized ignoring of laws that lack popular support. The term “Irish democracy” refers to uncoordinated, wide-spread civil disobedience. An example is a sign in the window requiring face masks by order of Governor Bullock – and once you’re inside, you’re the only one masked.
Every person must choose their form and level of resistance.
Protect your family and trusted friends. They are far more valuable than gold when things go sidewise.
