I have been a vendor at farmers markets for 4years. Consistently for 3 years sales were evenly split 50/50 between cash and credit. In year 4 changes started to happen. Several times at holiday weekends the split was 25% cash and 75% credit. If it was a fifth Saturday of the month, 90% credit transactions. Sobering to say the least. Now we are at the start of year 5 season and EVERY day is 60%-75% credit transactions. This is not sustainable for customers or vendors. Customers shouldn’t go into debt for necessary food and vendors are paying high processing fees for every credit transaction. Not sure where this leads…
