Brilliant or Theater?

Israel is clearly bombing Iran with purpose. The damage to nuke facilities is included on the list, but the goal was regime change or at least a heavily damaged military potential. You can see this in the targets they hit such as high ranking leadership. The strike on the prison is also telling, it suggests they want a prison break and internal chaos. They are only willing or more likely, demanding an end to this since they are taking more pain than they can dish out.
Iran hits back more selectively as to Israel. They are doing considerable economic damage and psychological damage to Israelis along with attritting the available interceptor missile stocks and infrastructure damage. We can see most of that. What is unknown is the extent of the damage to military sites. Another week of this and the interceptor stocks may be down to nothing, and it will not be possible to hide the vulnerability. With the Americans it appears Iran is playing along with Trumps charade both offensively and defensively.
The American defensive effort helping with missile interception over Israel is real enough, but the rest is pure theatre. The French conducted a Phony War in in 1939-40 before they were blitzkreiged out of WW2. Compared to this choreographed fireworks display between US and Iran, that was more of a half hearted effort than real play acting. Trump may want this to go down in history as the 12 Day War, but the Phony War is a better title.
