I have been thinking about the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse after gathering information since the event. I have questions concerning the following:
- Why was there no tugboat for the Dali?
- Why were there two Baltimore Harbor pilots on the ship? Who are they and what are their qualifications?
- Why are people blaming the Ukrainian captain for this incident when he was not in control of the ship’s course?
- Why did the FBI agent in charge of the Baltimore area state that this was not an act of terrorism without any investigation? It is strange that he was placed in that position all of one day earlier?
- Will the insurance companies involved in the accident be held accountable if the captain was not in charge of the ship or if it was an act of terrorism?
- Why did the audio of the ship’s black box record but the video was cutoff?
- Why is Joe Biden saying that the federal government will pay to rebuild the bridge?
- Why is the mayor of Baltimore making this a racist issue?
- Why is the media downplaying the impact to the national economy?
- Why are the names of the six workers from Central America killed in the work crew not released?
I did not include the hearsay evidence of cyberterrorism because there are already enough questions that need to be answered. Do I know that this was an act of terrorism? No. I do believe that the coverup in place coupled with misdirection by the FBI, Baltimore’s mayor and the media downplaying the economic impact gives any sapient individual enough to be concerned about tthe truth of this event.

1) The tugs had been released. I think they release tugs too early to cut cost. Billing is timed. The port leadership sets the procedure. Its on them.
2)Could be a training captain working with a newbe. More likely one pilot is for the inner harbor and approach and the other is for the bay. Its a big place. Board the pilots at dock, ride out to another ship incoming. Saves trips for the pilot boat.
4) No ideas here
3)The captain retains responsibility always. The pilots are “advisors”.
5) Depends on the contracts (there will be many different contracts)
6) Who knows but it will be looked at in the investigation. I think only audio is required but might be wrong on this one.

10) Notifying next of kin most likely? 2 were released this morning.
What stands out to me is, there were no tugboats assisting the ship and pedo joe admitting to the disaster by accepting responsibility for costs.
I have many of the same questions. The cynic in me says that joe committed to rebuilding the bridge with federal funds because he will get a 10% cut.
Biden will be dead and buried and in hades waiting for his judgement before that bridge gets rebuilt and he collects his 10%, it will take 5 years all total to complete the bridge. It will take one year to investigate the underwater structure to see what happened and if its sound, and if not, they have to begin a new process of pouring all new concrete pilings. Big job, big dollars and big kickbacks to the demonrat party.
What sort of “maintenance” were they performing? What EXACTLY caused power to be lost (hacking?). Given that nearly every episode of “Engineering Disasters” that involves a ship hitting and bringing down a bridge, ended with the new bridge having MASSIVE protections built around the piers, why was this bridge NOT better protected from this kind of possibility, especially given how many of this massive container ships go in/out of there every day? Will the US government “picking up the tab” 100% now STOP all investigations into the real cause, the real responsible parties, etc. and IS THAT THE WHOLE POINT? And how quickly will the wreckage be removed and shipped off to China as was the debris from the WTC collapses? wink wink.
I have seen the names of the dead workers. They are all Hispanic migrants. Joe Biden says the feds are going to pay, because he wants votes. The Black Mayor says it’s racist because he’s a black racist. There were tugs used for the exit from the berth. The FBI agent was placed in that position one day earlier. Did the position exist prior to the event? TWA 800 had an FBI agent assigned to the event. It that case I suspect it was a coverup. Kind of like the Warren Commission.

Having been a Sailor for more years than I would like to count…
1) Absolutely normal for tugs to release when the ship is in the channel. The ship was moored with the bow pointing opposite of the bridge. The tugs assisted her away from the mooring and got her turned and pointed in the right direction (sort a big half circle) and then she started making way as she was firmly in the channel, spending up to around 8 knots.
2) Absolutely normal for two pilots. I have looked long and hard at being a pilot. The certification process is extensive and you have to be extremely knowledgeabe. 3) pilots always in control until they aren’t. I think people are grasping at straws on this one.
The rest someone more qualified could answer. I thought I did see the names of the construction workers released though.
The economic impact of this event can be huge. However, some of it can be mitigated. The harbor doesn’t have to be completely shut down for 4 years. Clear the waterway of debris and some ship traffic can move. Reconstruction of the bridge and harbor operations can be co-ordinated. Vehicular traffic can be rerouted. Expensive, but it can be done. Who thought It was a good idea to bottle neck this much activity into one harbor and one bridge? I understand that there was no upgrade to bridge support protection since 1975. Larger ships use the harbor now and no upgrade was made to the barriers that protect the upright supports.

Heard this morning that the ship has a history of these problems. There should be a paper trail.

This wasn’t terrorism, this was a combination of bad luck, poor maintenance and probably incompetence. Terrorists look for a high body count. Knocking down a bridge in the middle of the night isn’t likely to generate a lot of bodies. I expect we will see more terrorism, especially if the left loses ground in November. But I highly doubt this incident was terrorism.
This seems to be a case of DEI doing what it is intended to do. That is, fuck up everything and turn it to shit. DEI crew, the ship had a collision with a dock in 2016 in Antwerp. And the company that owned the ship put diversity over competence.DEI in the case of the “diversity hires” running the port. The ship was inspected in Chile prior to coming to the US and had many safety deficiencies. This should have made the port authority force the ship to have tugs nearby until safely out of the port area. Competence is paramount in any seagoing activity, especially in commercial shipping. One saying is that ” all regulations are written in blood”. For the record, I am a licensed Chief Engineer, Unlimited. There should have been too many overlapping safety systems/procedures in place to stop this from happening. But stupidity knows no bounds.
I have an additional question… how many U.S. Naval vessels are trapped in the harbor?
None. They are down south in Norfolk, Va. area. Baltimore is more of a commercial port. Coal, cars and cruise ships. There is also a petroleum dock just inside the bridge to the south.
