Many folks have no idea where their familial line came from. England? Germany? Sweden? Denmark? Russia?
Many folks don’t know the names of their ancestors back even three generations.
If you don’t know … find out. Then thank them. Then become the best ancestor your descendants can have.
If you don’t know where you are from, it is hard to figure out where you are headed…..
Ferals raised by welfare queens are proof of this maxim.

Sobering.
Not a bad concept. Just make sure you don’t send your DNA to anyone, particularly the ancestry scammers who will sell the data.
I am most fortunate that my maternal grandmother’s sister applied for membership in The Colonial Dames of America. The application lists that side of the family back nine generations to Thomas Baker, born in Norwich, England in 1636.
My niece did our family trace, spent a small fortune. She got totally surprised by all the percent’s from the different nationalities. Some she didn’t like and couldn’t believe it true. My joke to her was, “remember sweet pea you’re a Southern and some family trees run in a straight line. Needless to say, she wasn’t happy with my comment and I didn’t get invited to her last Christmas dinners….lol
The only heritage that I’m concerned about is having the real blood of Jesus Christ in my life.
