Effort to oust Boehner falls flat

House conservatives and establishment Republicans agreed on one thing Wednesday: Rep. Mark Meadows’s measure to depose Speaker John Boehner was a bad idea.

Republicans aligned with and frequently opposed to Boehner (R-Ohio) argued the measure was an unnecessary distraction that could boost Hillary Clinton and Democrats at a time when Republicans need to hammer the administration on its Iran deal.

Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.), who serves with Meadows (R-N.C.) in the conservative House Freedom Caucus, called the move “about the dumbest idea I’ve seen here.”
Another conservative, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), said the North Carolina Republican’s actions have caused “befuddlement” among members of the Freedom group, which Meadows helped establish this year.

“It’s terrible. It makes no sense. It helps the Democrats. It divides the party,” centrist Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), a Boehner ally, told The Hill. “We should be spending all of August talking about the Iranian nuclear agreement, not this fool’s errand of vacating the Speaker’s chair.”

I believe that history will show that Rep. Meadows’ efforts were correct. Boehner and McConnell are poor excuses for leadership. Which is why they are in their respective positions.

I fully agree with you, Dave. When you’re going to clean house, you first clear the path of the biggest obstacle. In this case -- Boehner.

If a really good man like Mark is marginalized by his own Party, then what does that say about the party? The GOP is no longer worthy to represent the liberty viewpoint, and has not been in years.

I don’t know of any Senator or Congressman who doesn’t deserve a rope and an oak tree. They are traitors one and all. Republicans maybe more so since they profess to be something they are not -- Constitutionalists.

Nothing is going to help Hillary’s campaign, Boehner’s using muscle flex.

GOP = G ranting O bama P ermission

Notice the reason given for, so action could be taken, was simply because such an effort might, no matter how remote, cost them a bit of power, If their sole motivation is power then they are by definition as corrupt as we might imagine.
