We sang “Freedom Reigns” in church today and the following line shows why Socialism must by necessity destroy religion in order to flourish wherever any semblance of freedom previously existed:
Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom
Does this mean that freedom cannot exist without God? I believe so and the next logical question becomes: Does this mean that freedom cannot exist without the God of the Judeo-Christian religion upon which our country was founded?
I would hardly expect anyone to effectively argue that the Muslim religion and Allah promote freedom. Ask any Muslim woman how many ways she must submit. No one can argue that Socialist/Communist countries promote freedom. Historical evidence from Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Communist Russia and Maoist China show that freedom is soon supplanted by mass genocide. Obama’s Christmas ornament of Chairman Mao on our nation’s Christmas tree foreshadows his plans for American “freedom”.
What does Frederic Bastiat say about freedom (liberty) in “The Law”:
Each of us has a natural right–from God–to defend his person, his liberty, and his property. These are the three basic requirements of life, and the preservation of any one of them is completely dependent upon the preservation of the other two. For what are our faculties but the extension of our individuality? And what is property but an extension of our faculties?
Taking away this natural right from God is the first step in the march to Socialism which leads to genocide and tyranny. Our founding fathers understood the importance of freedom and from where it came:
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure if we have removed their only firm basis: a conviction in the minds of men that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever.”
Thomas Jefferson
Our pledge of allegiance states:
One nation, under God, with Liberty and Justice for all.
The loss of freedom will always coincide with the loss of justice. Eric Holder has shown the country that his view of justice is based on discrimination. His handling of the voter intimidation case in Philadelphia clearly shows that our country’s justice is on the same path as our freedom.
Whatever justice the Lord will impose on our country will be at His time and choosing. This justice will not have to include the loss of freedom: we have willingly transferred it to the government under the guise of social engineering and social justice.
David DeGerolamo
A little farther in the same pamphlet on the subject of the perversion of law, Bastiat talks about Socialism as Legal Plunder:
“You would use the law to oppose socialism? But it is upon the law that socialism itself relies. Socialists desire to practice legal plunder, not illegal plunder. Socialists, like all other monopolists, desire to make the law their own weapon. And when once the law is on the side of socialism, how can it be used against socialism? For when plunder is abetted by the law, it does not fear your courts, your gendarmes, and your prisons. Rather, it may call upon them for help.”
The Law, according to Bastiat, is the collective organization of the individual right to lawful defense.
“The law perverted! And the police powers of the state perverted along with it! The law, I say, not only turned from its proper purpose but made to follow an entirely contrary purpose! The law become the weapon of every kind of greed! Instead of checking crime, the law itself guilty of the evils it is supposed to punish!”
Once the law has been perverted to remove natural rights of man, it cannot be used by well meaning people as a means to restore liberty.
So the law has been perverted in our country. Voter fraud and intimidation is rampant. Votes are bought in exchange for government handout.
What recourse is left to restore liberty?
