Elon Musk holds a “top secret” security clearance but does not have access to all levels of classified information, specifically “sensitive compartmented information” (SCI) and “special access programs” (SAPs). According to various reports, SpaceX lawyers have advised against pursuing higher security clearances for Musk due to potential disclosures related to his contacts with foreign nationals, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his drug use history. This has resulted in him not having the highest level of security clearance that some of his employees at SpaceX possess, which limits his access to certain sensitive projects like SpaceX’s Starshield spy satellite program.

Information on the web and posts found on X indicate that there have been discussions and reviews regarding Musk’s security clearance, especially in light of his public behavior and drug use allegations. However, as of the latest available information, he still maintains a “top secret” clearance, but with limitations on what information he can access.

Remember, security clearance statuses can change, and the specifics of such clearances are often protected by privacy laws, so this information reflects the state of knowledge as per recent public discussions and reports.

On another subject, but cause Elon suggested it, 20,000 took the buyout. Saving $$$$$ and this just a start.
