Haircut Stories

I got my hair cut this week. As I walked in, the owner made a joke of my last name as a welcome. No worries. I had the other barber cut my hair. As the barber cut my hair, he asked if I was doing alright and I said fine. I like to listen instead of talking to get information.

He asked if I was going out of town for the holidays and I said no. He said he was staying home also as he did not want to travel in these times. I said that I understood as I do not travel any farther than that which would allow me to walk home. He understood and made a statement that we now live in a Banana Republic.

As I was leaving, I asked the owner for his thoughts on the Russian diplomatic jet landing in Washington, D.C. He did not hear about and asked for my opinion which I withheld. Since I had to wait for my ride home, I sat outside on the bench.

The owner came out to talk to me outside concerning the Russian jet. I told him that any war negotiations would occur on neutral ground. My best guess was that Russia was submitting evidence of US war crimes and an ultimatum to whoever is in charge. I also said that if we went to war with Russia, we would lose. The barber was incredulous and said that the US would win because Russia has inferior equipment.

I should have invested in Kool-Aid stock since people still love to drink it.

I believe your take on the situation is correct. I also believe that going after evidence of war crimes and corruption on the part of the Biden regime were motivating factors for the invasion.

I can only hope that Russian officials came here to show the garbage in charge the irrefutable evidence that will be used to sink -- and punish -- them. As to your observation that too many people, even putative “conservatives” are drinking the Kool-Aid regarding the military standing and capabilities of the FUSA versus those of contemporary Russia, it is spot on.

Far too many still have this delusional belief that America remains on top, and that nothing will change that. So too, that Russia is still the sclerotic, dysfunctional hellhole that we were taught it was during the waning years of its self evidently failed communist experiment.

However, I guess it doesn’t really matter. Misinformed idiots will believe what they want, with no consideration or acknowledgement given to contrary positions. Not even when backed by clear evidence that their position is incorrect. And they can hold onto their delusions, because so far there has been little to no consequence for being objectively wrong.

A reckoning is most assuredly inbound, however. I suspect those who are still stubbornly committed to the simplistic and binary USA=good, Russia=bad narrative will react very poorly to the revelation they’ve been spouting fictitious BS. And yet somehow, they will never admit they were wrong. I do hope Russia will do a bang up job of busting their cognitive dissonance, God knows something needs to happen to force recognition of reality on these sorts of people.

In defense of Helen Keller, and in spite of her severe handicaps, even she was vastly more informed than the average American. And that is just the plain truth of the matter.

War crimes? Why not go public? This would be a major coup for the forces of goodness and light?(AKA, Russia) If they wanted to keep it quiet to give the U.S. some cover, why use an official flight? Why not use back channel comms like used for Cuban Missile Crisis. Regardless, this will be met with the same effect as the Russian war crimes acussations for Bucha. Supposedly you give your opponents a face saving escape. So if there to read Biden the riot act, flying in with guns and flags flying so publicly only hardens opposition. Guess again.

I’ve considered the value of “going public” in such a scenario. But really, how would they? Sure, they could release the evidence, but American media will largely ignore it, and claim it was “debunked” while simultaneously denying its existence. Any coverage it does get would be limited to what the same idiot normies I’ve already referred to consider “fringe” sites like this one, and so they will merely dismiss it out of hand. Bottom line, nearly zero impact is realized outside the ranks of us dissidents.
Now, if Russia organizes tribunals, and there is enough international pressure behind the effort to demand the US present those charged, we might actually see something useful take place. But really, unless they want to employ adequate force to physically bring in the bad actors for trial and punishment, any evidence they have will be waved away as false and fabricated. And even if they do bring them in, try them and sentence them accordingly, many here in the US will still maintain it was all the result of Russian falsehoods.

So, going “public” is of limited usefulness, as the effort will be diffused by the general unwillingness to cover and believe it. This is the main reason the left’s control of the media is so dangerous.

Russia does have inferior equipment. The question is just how much do they have. They MIGHT have a couple of weapons systems that are on par with ours, maybe it’s just propaganda. Problem is we have decent equipment but not enough of it…and nowhere near enough personnel. We have wasted too much money and equipment on pointless misadventures, we can no longer function as a super power. Because of that Russia and China smell weakness. Russia is NOT a super power. Without their nukes they would be at best a second tier military…maybe not that. China is our real problem. Russia is really only a threat to Europe if you remove nukes from the equation. They CANNOT project meaningful power beyond Europe. China cannot project power very far either…yet. But they are working on that. Putin talks big and threatens, but unless he’s willing to go to canned sunshine it’s exactly that…talk. He’s only a true threat to his neighbors. The US needs to get it’s house in order…and soon. Our quisling traitors in power are by FAR the biggest great this country faces. Not sure if it’s too late for this country or not. I not it will be soon.

Yes, the facts bear witness that Russia’s present nuclear strategic military capabilities are superior to those of the U.S. and NATO.

Dan--FYI… Russia spent the last 32 years dumping the old “quantity has a quality of its own” idea of weaponry and replacing it with equipment that is on par technically in most respects or that which surpasses NATO weapons. The KA-52 Alligator of instance is faster than the any Apache longbow version--more maneuverable, cheaper to build and is more easily maintained Russia’s strategic rocket forces outclass the USA in every respect. Their anti-tank drone production (20,000 units a month) out classes and out produces anything the USA can field. Even their old T90 latest versions on on par with our Abrams--and their new Armata tanks is lightyears ahead of anything we have in development. For every 9 dollars we spend on over-blown production loaded with waste and overuns--Russia spends 1 dollar to achieve superior results. Any hot war with Russia would assuredly come to the USA itself--and that means ports, bases, railroad yards, harbors and so forth. It won’t be like WWII where we had two oceans to serve as barriers. You’ll be facing canned sunshine the moment the first few rounds are fired.

Every time….EVERY time…Russian equipment has been pitted against western equipment it has come up short. Abysmally short. Russian military equipment has always been designed and built with peasants in mind. It works, but it’s never on par with western equipment. That is REALITY. The issues however are not just equipment. The US military of 1990 would curb stomp Russia today without even breaking a sweat conventionally. Our problem is NOT quality of equipment, never has been. The problems are cost and quantity…which of course has a quality all its own. Add in the DEI/LGBTQ bullshit the .mil brass now is obsessed with an we have real problems. Quality of equipment is NOT one of them.

Ok, take a M777 artillery system. Fire 10,000 rounds and wait four years for replacement barrels to get forged at $900,000,000 currently. Now at the end of four years and one week, tell me how much superior our artillery systems are.

The Patriot battery in Ukraine is no more, taken out by cheap drones and three mid priced (compared to ours) missiles. How much better is our tech in real life combat?

The F-35 has a radar absorbent coating that needs constant, lengthy and expert (and surprise, expensive. Bet you didn’t see that coming) reapplication. The outer coating rusts in salt spray, most of the software is not written yet and Best of all Russian air defences have locked on to F-35’s. They are not invisible at all.

The question is not how much better at generating cost overruns, or graft and kickback, or jobs in certain congressional districts, or very expensive maintenance contracts, or overpriced spare parts our tech is. We slam it out of the park on those criteria, but the real question is in the real world, down in the mud and snow, hellfire raining from everywhere in a war -- how does our gear perform. It just doesn’t match up, and you can see that in the 7 to 1 loss ratio between Russia and Ukraine.

And ps, in the ’90’s our plan for Russia invading Germany was to nuke the invaders because we knew we could not win any other way. That is not kicking ass.

I have not run across anyone who is aware of the Russian Jet. Almost felt like the lone ranger, thanks for posting it David. Had dinner the other night with old friends who I view as intelligent but blue pilled. I listed the Maidan, votes to leave by Crimea, and the eastern Oblasts, shelling before 2022 of the eastern oblasts, etc. They said well…..Hitler and Sudetenland….. Seriously. That was it. They have us so divided and dumbed down it stuns me.

A lot of people simply do not posses the intellectual capability to grasp some of the larger concepts at work here. What you have to understand about this topic, is it shakes some foundational narratives a lot of people have built their world view, their paradigm around.
US is the baddies? Da Fuq you talking about?
US Military might is not supreme? Oh, those were just goat-herders. .
Literally the foundation of their entire view of the world and everything.
Thats why people look at you cross eyed when you talk about shit like this. You literally sound alien to them. Then the anger sets in (because they’re stupid), and suddenly you’re the traitor… did I miss anything?
Tell a Christian Ganesh is the real God, get the same perplexed look, don’t you? You can’t redpill these people to awareness. They’re the mass of meat in the middle that will crush you if you let them… the left controls them with censorship and fear. Luddites, lemmings, sheeple, pick your metaphor….

Yes. We are also unwilling to drive any further than we could walk home. At this point our local town is almost too far. I was trying to find anything at all to disagree with you on this post, aaaaaand, nothing.

Only difference is that my wife cuts my hair. Haven’t been to a barber in years, and that’s one less opportunity to have to deal with the koolaid drinkers. No regrets, since nearly everyone out there is clearly unaware of almost everything that is happening. Even our mail carrier hasn’t decided whether or not to get the booster.

The remnant will be very, very small.
