Inflation is nothing new, it has been used for thousands of years. It begins and ends the same way with the destruction of the economy, once it has gone too far! I suspect we are there.

On this subject, there is a remarkable — and short — pamphlet that brilliantly, even dramatically illustrates the process: Fiat Money Inflation in France, by Andrew Dickson White, who later founded Cornell University. It’s a must-read.

Probably the best short explanation of inflation and its effects that I have seen.
