Is It Time to Go Galt?

There is a large difference between coming to the realization that it is time to “Go Galt” and giving up. Many people are having the discussion of participating in a system that is doomed to fail. This scenario was effectively outlined in Atlas Shrugged and Ayn Rand now appears to have been prescient in her novel. Dagny struggled with this concept as the novel’s central theme just as patriotic Americans are also struggling.

Is it quitting if we do not believe our only recourse to save our country is to vote Republican in the 2012 elections? We see the 51% (called the 99%) who are draining the lifeblood of our country call for change without any clarification. This is anarchy leading to tyranny. And who is supporting this movement against the banks and the rich? The media, liberal celebrities, liberal politicians in Washington and labor unions are openly supporting civil unrest in the name of the 99%. This support in conjunction with people on the streets who do not know what they are even protesting except the ubiquitous “change” will not alleviate any of the nation’s crippling issues.

The following video from the original Star Trek series has Captain Kirk questioning the logic of Mr. Spock’s participation in an empire that will collapse:

At present, patriotic Americans are fighting the federal government from the top down and will soon be fighting an organized insurrection from the bottom up. Will we be led like sheep into a false sense of security from the government in exchange for our freedom? Is this the future that we have envisioned for our children? Or is this the future envisioned by those anonymous legions whose real purpose is the destruction of our country?

To envision any future requires vision. We have politicians but no leaders or statesmen with vision who are willing to stand up for the truth. No politician will state that the United States is bankrupt tenfold over. No politician will run on the necessary austerity measures needed to even take the first step to economic recovery.

So the question remains: when is it time to go Galt and follow a logical course of action that will lead to a restoration of our nation’s economy, morality and virtue? Or do we sit silently and talk about the next election, civil war and past glory?

Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer

If we do go Galt, do we have the courage to sacrifice our lives, fortunes and sacred honor to provide freedom for our children when we rebuild? We are not fighting against an empire doomed to fail, we are fighting to restore the greatest nation in history.

At a minimum, “Go Galt”. A far better option is to “Go Durden”.

“Go Durden”

If the movie Fight Club is your meme, then I / we must accomodate.

Just remember you are living the insomniac’s waking dream.

We are alert, informed and ready:

“an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy s*&!we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war… our Great Depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won’t. And we’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.

… trust me, based on your prattle you have not yet experienced serious pain in your life.

I suggest that Ron Paul has the vision you seek. Maybe Cain. The others are all too vested.

Hans: Keep your shirt on pal, our time hasn’t quite come. Just spare us the Germanic “Order First” Philosophy ok? And for God’s sake no “Austrian School” Economic quotes. Hayek seems to thrive on these websites.

Catch you in three weeks dude. Off to Nepal.

John, you persist in your misunderstanding …

Think of me as Hayek, von Mises and Rand in a single package.

I am your worst nightmare -- someone who knows their value and knows exactly what he will be fighting to preserve.

Stay in Nepal.
