Been there, done that. Ole Murphy always shows up when we least expect him, as Tom pointed out. May both Wes and Tom and your families have a blessed Christmas.
And you as well Carpenter, God bless you and your family.

Good work, Wes. We had to do that at 4th of July one year. My wife is heck with solder, so it went pretty smooth. One bit o’ advice-put date of install on the side with sharpie, and then every time you drain it or replace the t&p valve you can add that so you have a record. Being a (former) boiler operator, I strongly urge regular maintenance on hot water heaters.
Yes,, fortunately it was a slow leak, only the closet was wet when I discovered it.

Yup, been there done that, about five / six years ago. Fortunately my two sons were home for Christmas, one was an electrician ( U.S.Navy ) and the other was a maIntanance man in a manufacturing plant. So have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone

I feel for ya -- my last home had that water buffalo up in the attic. I had to section it in the attic before bringing down. Replaced with a tankless.

We are grateful we are still here, for good food and Christ sacrifice!
