0% contained, and winds are set to pick up through the night
New fires are being sparked as well. This is going to be catastrophic.

It’s not in the City of Los Angeles--but in Pacific Palisades area of the Los Angeles region. More specifically above Santa Monica city--where a tough shed sells for 900k. The home values in the area affected are in the multi-millions of dollars and the fire has burned to the ocean in many areas. Along pacific coast highway there are several mobile home parks where units sell in the 100k range or more (minimum)… and these all burned down as of this writing. My wife’s friend evacuated from her place in Santa Monica and is staying with us for the evening now. Fire is spreading uncontrolled as the winds are whipping up embers into the air for miles. Embers are crossing Interstate 10 several miles away from the Palisades, so as the winds increase, I suspect the fire my turn into a firestorm and burn into Santa Monica proper.
Ouch. That is scary. A lot of folks are going to be devastated. This is also the first I’ve heard of this, but then I don’t consume much media.
Wife’s friend has to stay over for a few more days. The roof of the adjacent building blew off from the high winds and smashed out her living room picture window (top floor of apartment building in Santa Monica close to the evacuation area). Lots of smoke damage as well. Everything is covered in ash and smoke this morning and we are 15 miles from the Palisades fire in the South Bay of LA. Last night the smoke and smell was very, very strong and we kept all the doors and windows closed. Still keeping them closed.
Fire is still raging in the Palisades and in Altadena as I type this. Hundreds of homes burned to the ground. And last year, many insurance companies abandoned California and those that did not abandon the state--did not offer fire insurance in many areas, or they raised their rates astronomically. I’m going to a high point overlooking LAX in a few minutes that has a good vantage point and I’ll give a report when I get back.
Fire did burn to the sea at Topanga Canyon Blvd and Pacific Coast Highway. This is not the first time this has happened FYI. In 79 it burned to the sea and has done so several times since then taking hundreds of homes in Malibu and the coastline. The worst place to own a home would be up in Topanga Canyon where people like ‘to live with nature’ and there is little to no brush clearing--so when a fire erupts in that canyon, everything goes up like Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Same thing seems to apply up in the Palisades as I do not see brush and tree trimming requirements. So the fires will burn right up to the edge of a structure as seen in this video. And please note that these fools don’t know what to do.
FYI--the areas affected are 98% Deep-Blue Leftist areas…

And what you see here--the abandoned cars on Sunset Boulevard is typical of the leftist/panic mindset. Note the Mercedes, BMW’s and Tesla vehicles left abandoned as the panicked drivers fled as the first sign of a jam-up. Fled towards the ocean at the end of Sunset Blvd. Fire department had to bulldoze the cars to clear a path for the fire responders.
Again, metal melts and yet the trees and leafs still hold. Is this a “blue paint” event?
