That’s Popocatépetl. I’ve seen it from Mexico City a couple of times when it wasn’t too smoggy. About six months ago, another Mexican volcano, Volcán de Colima, finished the last of a series of eruptions. I saw Volcán de Colima once on the way to Manzanillo from Guadalajara. Mexico has some pretty impressive volcanoes, and we have some impressive volcanoes on the U.S. west, too. I doubt this eruption of Popocatépetl means much. It’s had a lot of small eruptions over the years plus over a dozen major eruptions since the 1500s.
