News to Me

I don’t know if I’ve been exposed to COVID-19, but I am experiencing symptoms. What should I do?

The likelihood of exposure from public outings is a similar risk of exposure we experience every cold and flu season in our communities. Statistically, 1 person out of 200 people who are exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual, will become COVID-19 positive (0.5% transmission rate in the general public).

As of March 3, the CDC has determined COVID-19 is now endemic, meaning that the virus is now considered to be regularly found in our region amongst our population. (emphasis added)

As always, it is important to remain vigilant in recognizing any significant symptoms—particularly for those with heightened risk, including:

  • Individuals with pre-existing health conditions
  • Seniors
  • Those who are immunity compromised

I could not corroborate the above statement from a CDC site so I would have to “assume” that this was a private briefing to the medical community.

This is a statement from EvergreenHealth’s web site:

EvergreenHealth is an integrated two-hospital healthcare system offering a breadth of services and programs that is among the most comprehensive in the region.

Formed in 1972 as a public hospital district, we now serve nearly 850,000 residents of our service area in north King and south Snohomish counties, with medical facilities located throughout the area for easy access.

There were several tweets last night concerning this statement and that no testing needed to be done in the Seattle area since the virus was widespread. Those tweets are no longer on twitter but the above statement is still on EvergreenHealth’s site.
