Sabo, a conservative street artist, replaced a photo of killer Michael Myers with one of the congresswoman.

A billboard advertising the new Halloween movie opening Friday was altered after a street artist swapped out an image of serial killer Michael Myers and replaced it with one of Maxine Waters.

The gigantic billboard at Pico Boulevard in West Hollywood remains intact, only the congresswoman is now holding the sharp butcher knife in her right hand, looking ready to plunge it into an unsuspecting victim. The phrase “#Uncivil Democrats” has also been added.

Blumhouse and Universal are advertising the sequel to the 1978 classic slasher movie of the same title on several billboards in and around Hollywood, though in the dead of night a conservative artist known as Sabo hijacked one of them.

Sabo tells The Hollywood Reporter that the text he added to the advertisement is a reference to Waters telling a crowd in June to make things uncomfortable for President Donald Trump and his Cabinet members.

With only weeks to go before the election and the “blue wave” looking more like a swell, if anything, Democrats are desperate. Several party leaders have called for violence against Republicans. Others have pulled yard signs and encouraged people to harass Republican senators and representatives in public, to drive them from public view. Antifa, the military wing of the Democrat Party, has been more active and more violent; willing to assault anyone who does not immediately capitulate to their demands as was seen in Portland.

Where all of this ventures into the dangerous, civil war territory is that actions such as these have not only been condoned and encouraged by the mayors of the cities in which Antifa is active; cities that have rebuked the laws of the United States by claiming they are “sanctuaries”; cities that have refused to facilitate federal law enforcement; cities that have incited violence by refusing to arrest the perpetrators and instructing their police officers to stand down. They are trying desperately to get some patriot to the republic to take drastic action against these injustices.

In reality, however, we are only as free to speak as a government official may allow.

Free speech zones, bubble zones, trespass zones, anti-bullying legislation, zero tolerance policies, hate crime laws and a host of other legalistic maladies dreamed up by politicians and prosecutors have conspired to corrode our core freedoms.

If citizens cannot stand out in the open on a public sidewalk and voice their disapproval of their government, its representatives and its policies, without fearing prosecution, then the First Amendment with all its robust protections for free speech, assembly and the right to petition one’s government for a redress of grievances is little more than window-dressing on a store window: pretty to look at but serving little real purpose.
