For the first time ever, there are now officially 27 residences listed for sale globally with price tags above $100 million, according to Christie’s International Real Estate. That’s up 42% from last year, and up 125% from 2014!

Some super-priced homes are offered only privately, rather than through public channels, to avoid the hoopla that this sort of QE-wealth-effect creation brings. “Brokers say,” according to the Times, that with those “whisper listings,” the total “could easily top 40 or 50.”

But last year, only two homes in that 9-figure price category actually sold, according to Christie’s: a house in Hong Kong acquired by Alibaba’s Jack Ma for $193 million, just as Hong Kong’s housing bubble has begun to implode; and a townhouse in London that went for $132 million. In 2014, only five sold. In the prior three years combined, only eight sold. And now there are perhaps over 50 for sale….

Less than a week ago, after reporting that shootings in Chicago were up an astonishing 50% from the same time in 2015, Chicago’s police superintendent Eddie Johnson proclaimed “as we look toward the summer months, violence will not be tolerated.” Johnson didn’t give any further details around what the plan was actually going to be to stem the violence other than volunteers would be asked to work overtime during the Memorial Day Weekend.

Sadly, as the Chicago Tribune reports, whatever plan Johnson had didn’t work and violence in Chicago has erupted once again. So far this Memorial Day weekend, there have been 40 people shot (4 killed, 36 wounded), and with two full days left, 2016 shootings are likely to far surpass last year’s total of 56 that were shot over this same weekend.

In the middle of the eighteenth century, residents of Ulster, the northeast region of Ireland, set sail across the Atlantic. Many were actually from Scotland, having originally immigrated across the Irish Sea to Ireland at the insistence of Britain’s King James I, who wanted to plant a contingent of loyal Protestant followers in the traditionally Catholic country. These migrants were known as “Scotch-Irish” when they reached the shores of America.

Traveling south from the New England port cities, the Scotch-Irish found a landscape in the southern United States that was not too different from their old home. The southern Appalachian Mountains and Piedmont regions, located in western North and South Carolina, contained a soil and climate conducive to farming and livestock—just like in Ireland. (The mountains of the Carolinas and Ireland and Scotland were once part of the same chain before the continents drifted apart.) There was plenty of farmland available, and they no longer faced discrimination for their Protestantism. Small, isolated Scotch-Irish communities sprang up in the mountains, bringing an oral tradition of tales rooted in the Irish and Celtic cultures. The people in these folk tales were inseparable from the land, which provided them with their livelihoods. The land was sacred.

One of the funny phenomena of Greek grammar is that sometimes the verb in a sentence is omitted and you have to figure out what it is from context. Sometimes it is implied from earlier in the passage (often the last verb is meant to be repeated) or just a form of the verb “to be” is meant. An example of this is in 2 Corinthians 5:17, which most modern English translations render as something like, “if anyone is in the Messiah, he is a new creation.” However the Greek leaves out the verb “is” and the subject “he.” It simply reads, “If anyone is in the Messiah — New Creation!” Under the ordinary translation, the subject of the verb is the “anyone,” the individual who has been incorporated into the Messiah. Thus it would mean that the individual now has an opportunity to start their life over and to re-prioritize their life according to God’s ways, to re-channel their energies in obedience and holiness rather than sin. Of course this is all good, but is that what the verse is getting at?

Another option is that the subject of the verb is “new creation, giving us a translation like, “If anyone is in the Messiah, there is a new creation” (NRSV) or “if anyone is in the messiah, the new creation has come!” (TNIV). Supporting this interpretation is the observation that when Paul uses the term “creation,” he generally uses it in terms of the whole creation, not a part of it, or one individual within it.

Then we come back to 1 Peter 2:13:

Ktisei is a variation  of ktisis from 2 Corinthians 5:17 above. Here the translation is “institution” instead of “creation”. The context of “subjection to every human creation or institution” for the sake of the Lord has been changed to “subjection to every human government”. If you see the difference between the original intent and the new translation circa 1890, I can only hope that you will begin to question the other means to subjugate people to the will of the “government”. As always, it is up to you to decide.

My lesson learned is to go back to the original Hebrew and Greek instead of reading man’s interpretation to have us serve man instead of God.

U.S. Ambassador Lewis Lukens’s sworn testimony in the case of Hillary Clinton’s privatization of the U.S. Secretary of State’s email is the first evidence to be released in the Clinton email cases, and it was published on May 26th at the website of Judicial Watch, the organization that originally brought the suit. Headlining “First Deposition Testimony from Clinton Email Discovery Released”, it reported that:

Judicial Watch today released the deposition transcript of Ambassador Lewis Lukens, former deputy assistant secretary of state and executive director of the State Department’s executive secretariat.  The transcript is available here.  Amb. Lukens was deposed last week as part of the discovery granted to Judicial Watch by U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan in response to its Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit involving former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s unsecured, non-government email system (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:13-cv-01363)).

Arrogance? Ignorance? What difference does it make?

Maybe the question really is how much money she collected by allowing foreign governments to access our national security information. The only question that needs to be answered is whether she will be held accountable for her treason.

Certainly black lives matter, as does all human life, but to hear the pandering Democrats who are tying themselves in knots in the effort to plant the most kisses on the posteriors of black notables – one would be hard pressed to believe that anything matters beyond saying what many blacks want to hear.

Bernie Sanders made the statement that “law enforcement in America is broken.” There is no evidence that I have ever seen to support that conclusion – but it is what many blacks want to hear. What this same group doesn’t want to be told is that the crime, violence, and general animalistic nature of many within their community are the contributing factors which prompt police intervention. Firemen go to a fire – policemen go to the scene of a crime. I can’t find any indication that white people are responsible for the human failings which cause these conditions which require police involvement.

Consider what would happen if blacks, who make up about thirteen percent of the population, suddenly disappeared from the U.S. The prison population would decrease sixty percent, obesity would decline, gang membership would decline, the median I.Q. of Americans would increase, average ACT and SAT scores would increase dramatically, incidents of AIDS and HIV would decrease by forty-seven percent, STDs would decline significantly, and the number of people in poverty and the homeless would decline considerably. Lifestyle choices do determine health – and the promiscuousness within the black community leads to sexually transmitted diseases and millions of unwanted pregnancies – many of which are terminated by abortion. Black individuals need to be responsible for illegitimacy in the black community being at or near seventy percent – whites can’t change that! So from the standpoint of negative impact on American society – black lives certainly matter!!
