pResident Barack Obama’s two-day trip to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last month cost taxpayers over $3.1 million in hotel and motorcade costs alone, according to contracts released by the State Department.

In what some described as a “futile” trip, the president met with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries on April 20 and 21.

The president required three hotels, including a $2 million stay at the Ritz-Carlton. Rooms for security and the “VIP delegation” were also booked at the Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh at Kingdom Tower totaling $200,000, and the Courtyard Marriott totaling $240,000.

Three limousine companies were also booked, including contracts worth $240,000 to AlSalem Transportation and Tourism Company and $240,000 to SMSA ExpressTransportation company.

A third contract to Dala International also totaled $240,000.

Report: Government Regulations Add $84,671 to New Home Prices

homes

Government regulations are responsible for adding $84,671 to the final price of a new single-family home, according to a report from the National Association of Home Builders.

According to the report, regulations implemented during the lot’s development are responsible for 14.6 percent of the total, while 9.7 percent is due to costs that accrue after the builder has purchased a finished lot.

“Regulations come in many forms and can be imposed by different levels of government,” explains the report. “At the local level, jurisdictions may charge permit, hook-up, and impact fees and establish development and construction standards that either directly increase costs to builders and developers, or cause delays that translate to higher costs.”

DOJ files lawsuit against North Carolina over bathroom law

If we do not stand against evil, what will our children inherit? This government is evil and I am pleasantly surprised that North Carolina is standing up against tyranny for morality. Are you keeping a list of domestic enemies yet?

Running the Table

by Robert Gore

Multitasking is a delusion. Its premise: that the human mind can, like a computer, parallel process and perform multiple tasks effectively. No, it can’t. Each new task undertaken diminishes efficiency across all tasks. For those who need empirical proof, read this article, make a phone call, prepare a meal, do a crossword puzzle, and paint a picture. How’s it going? Multitasking usually involves less demanding tasks, but people who drive and talk on their phones represent a heightened risk on the road, and that is performing only two fairly simple functions. On a conscious level, the human brain best operates as a serial, one-by-one processor rather than parallel processing, although the subconscious and conscious apparently work in tandem.

Delusion prompts multitasking and superficiality is the result. Like an invasive weed, delusion and superficiality crowd out and eventually eliminate more desirable mental flora. Deluded and superficial minds are unable to form perspectives, analyze, imagine, or philosophize. Epistemology is broadly defined as the theory of knowledge. Reams have been written about the upcoming election, but little about how either of the presumed nominees thinks. It’s a demanding and thankless task, but someone has to do it, because this election is an epistemological train wreck.

NC governor sues Obama administration over bathroom law challenge

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory on Monday filed suit against the Department of Justice over its challenge to the state’s controversial transgender bathroom law.

The state was facing a Monday deadline set by the Obama administration to respond to its demand that North Carolina either scrap the law or face legal action and risk losing federal funds.

Gov. Pat McCrory Says ‘Bathroom Bill’ is ‘No Longer Just a North Carolina Issue’ But a Nationwide Battle

Gov. Pat McCrory (R-NC) told Fox’s Chris Wallace Sunday morning that the bathroom bill battle in his state “…is no longer just a North Carolina issue,” but a nationwide affair. McCrory’s statement came after the Justice Department announced earlier this week that the state’s controversial House Bill 2 violates federal civil rights laws.

The Justice Department stated Wednesday that it informed McCrory and other state officials that they have until Monday to “confirm [sic] that the State will not comply with or implement HB2.” McCrory called the deadline “unrealistic.”
