Conservatives were pleased when Gov. Pat McCrory of North Carolina recently signed a bill that bars biological males from using women’s restrooms in government schools and other taxpayer-supported facilities, and vice versa.

Charlotte’s city council passed an ordinance that would have allowed men pretending to be women to enter women’s restrooms and changing areas. The legislature called an emergency session and struck down the ordinance.

Certain corporations, performers, and other liberals threatened to boycott and implemented boycotts, because lawmakers want to protect privacy, maintain safety, and respect the modesty of girls and women. To liberals, this is bigotry. For the rest of us, it’s common sense, and advocates of decency should not back down.

But in the wake of an expected backlash he should have disregarded, Gov. McCrory issued an executive order that purportedly clarifies the law and affirms “North Carolina’s rich legacy of inclusiveness, diversity and hospitality makes North Carolina a global destination for jobs, business, tourists and talent,” while maintaining the ban on men using women’s restrooms, and vice versa.

If you are a longtime activist in the Liberty Movement then you are well aware that elections do not matter in terms of the future direction our nation takes. Presidents are puppets of international financiers, and so are most legislators. Whenever a president does attempt to go against the system, he either ends up shot by a “lone gunman,” or his office is disgraced by a conveniently-leaked scandal.

Today, elections represent the illusion of choice; that is all. The leadership of both major parties seem different in terms of their rhetoric, but this is all cosmetic. Underneath the talk, Democrat and Republican leaders are nearly identical in their support for bigger government, more centralization, less constitutional protections, more globalism, more power to international banks and central banks, and less transparency and accountability.

For many decades now, the choice has been between the puppet on the left hand or the puppet on the right hand. This year is proving to be a little different, at least on the face of things, to the point where elections are becoming rather surreal.

For younger generations with limited experience participating in the world of U.S. elections, developments today might seem odd but not outlandish. For older generations of Americans a consensus seems to be forming and the concerns commonly expressed in the mainstream and on the web appear to match – 2016 is turning out to be the strangest presidential election they have ever seen.

Not good. Get ready for a rough ride.

Hundreds of thousands of student loan borrowers will now have an easier path to getting their loans discharged, the Obama administration announced Tuesday.

The Department of Education will send letters to 387,000 people they’ve identified as being eligible for a total and permanent disability discharge, a designation that allows federal student loan borrowers who can’t work because of a disability to have their loans forgiven. The borrowers identified by the Department won’t have to go through the typical application process for receiving a disability discharge, which requires sending in documented proof of their disability. Instead, the borrower will simply have to sign and return the completed application enclosed in the letter.

If every borrower identified by the Department decides to have his or her debt forgiven, the government will end up discharging more than $7.7 billion in debt, according to the Department.

In a recent map, the CDC highlights the potential range of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the U.S. during 2016. Aedes aegypti mosquitoes are the type that can carry Zika virus.

Weather can be a major influence on spread of Zika virus and the life cycle of its mosquito host, especially in areas with warm weather and high humidity. Therefore, in the United States, the virus poses a higher risk in southern areas.

While there has yet to be a case of an infection transmitted locally in the continental United States, the Zika virus, which has already spread across much of South and Central America, has sparked increasing concern from both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) because of its impacts on pregnant women and their unborn children.

One month ago we were quite amused by what at that time was one of the most ridiculous short squeezes we have ever seen when the stock of Peabody Energy, exploded higher from $2 to about $6 in days on… nothing.

Many scratched their heads at this move as nothing fundamentally had changed in the company’s deteriorating operations, and its bonds are among the most distressed issues trading currently. The move was even more bizarre when just a few days later Peabody warned it may file for bankruptcy protection eminently.

In 1996, Thomas Chittum published an interesting book that offered a glimpse of a theoretical future America.  In 2016, a mere 2 decades later, it is illuminating and quite revealing to look at where we were when the book was released, and where we are today.  What we are yet to be is a unfinished question.  Based upon analysis of trends and a knowledge of human organization through history, Chittum provides a logical explanation for what he forecast.  While I am not 100% sympatico with his vision of the future, you must give kudos to the man for how close he called it 20 years ago.

Although the book is somewhat dated in the fine points of numbers, demographics and the like, if Chittum went to Vegas with the odds as he predicted the outcome, he’d have the wealth of Croesus.

he ongoing debate over religious liberty in regard to same-sex marriage, John Kasich has continually been on the leftist side of the aisle.

Speaking at CNN town hall Monday, Kasich slammed Mississippi’s religious freedom law as big mistake, wrongfully characterizing it as a law that enables businesses to simply deny service to LGBT affiliates.

“I read about this thing they did in Mississippi where apparently you can deny somebody service because they’re gay.  What the hell are we doing in this country?” he asked.

As stated by LifeSiteNews, the “Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act,” signed into law by Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant, actually says that “the government cannot compel religious organizations to hire anyone whose conduct violates their religious beliefs, or force religious adoption agencies to place children in the homes of same-sex couples.”

“We’ve gotta NIP it! Nip it in the bud!”

Rocker Bruce Springsteen has cancelled a concert appearance in Greensboro, North Carolina to protest the state’s law which segregates bathroom privileges based exclusively on an individual’s God-given plumbing rather than their current (and sometimes flexible) gender self-identification. Moreover, in an additional show of solidarity for the “whichever damn bathroom we choose” crowd,  Springsteen has changed the name of his backup group to “The P Street Band.”
