Contra Praeteritum: Why patriots today are gearing up for the last insurgency

My experience this weekend and the excellent article by JC Dodge HERE started a train of thought I couldn’t shake. I went to a training event a local group hosted and was treated to a particularly frustrating experience. Someone was there in Gucciflage all pretty and matchy-matchy (if George W. can invent words then so can this Texan) but failed to bring a holster for his sidearm (because who needs a holster when you look that good), so the planned iterations of transitions from long gun to handgun were interesting to say the least. Not that it mattered, as most had difficulty putting a controlled pair into steel at a 1/4 sized target 10 yards away with a handgun. I kid you not. The PT standards I and others had screamed for were scrapped for some feel-good joke of a run ( 11:30/mile is NOT a standard…it’s a brisk walk) and pushups on your knees, Girl Scout style. It deteriorated to a lot of back-patting and insistence that we all wear the same man-jammies (multicam of course) with a few pointed looks in my direction since I came in something solid and less threatening. While I attempt to refrain from expressing my frustrations and admittedly caustic sarcasm on here, as I feel I owe the readers a modicum of maturity and good-taste, I use the former to illustrate my point. I see much of the modern patriot movement doing exactly what we sneer at the Pentagon and military brass for doing, namely fighting the last war.
Society, industry, culture, warfare and just about every other aspect of civilization evolve. It is a natural and healthy part of a functioning ecosystem, whether that is literal or financial or martial in nature. Clubs begat swords and spears which begat muskets which eventually arrived at things like the Dillon Aero M134. Similarly, the way in which the last two wars were prosecuted against insurgencies were rather bungled, though exactly who should shoulder the blame I will leave to others more qualified. Many patriots point to the insurgencies in Iraq, Afghanistan and some Ireland as examples of how insurgencies can and do defeat regular forces. While there are salient points to be drawn from these historical events, very little critical and realistic thinking is done on the part of Captain Awesome running his ‘mulisha.’ I very much agree with both JC Dodge and Max Velocity on the abandonment of military uniforms, nomenclature and patches. Partly because I view it as a lack of creativity, someone who cannot think of an original name should not be counted on to think outside the box in operations, but also because I believe one should not act like the 800 lb. gorilla in the room unless you ARE the 800 lb. gorilla in the room…and probably not even then. While the uniform issue is easily enough remedied, I think it is endemic of a systematic failure of critical analysis of what and who the Taliban, Isis and IRA were. Three issues in which the patriot movement has significantly overestimated themselves and misidentified the success of these various groups is in funding, cultural influence and what I will refer to as population motivation.

See What Happens When You Become a Moral State

North Carolina is leading the nation in morality. I know that the media and political elite disagree. But that is a good thing. As are the boycotts from Yankee state governments. In another piece of good news, an adult website is blocking North Carolina residents from their site. Although I have never heard of xHamster, the article below states that it is ranked 91st in the world. Think what would happen if other states stood up for morality instead of obscenity. If xHamster wanted to make a real statement, they should block the IP addresses in Washington, D.C.

Massive adult website blocks North Carolina residents in anti-LGBT law protest
Earlier this month, it was reported that PayPal had cancelled its plans to open a global operations center in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a protest against the state’s recently passed anti-LGBT law. Now, another firm is taking a stand against House Bill 2. This time, it’s adult website xHamster, which is blocking all North Carolina IP addresses from accessing its content.
The controversial law supersedes ordinances protecting LGBT people from discrimination and prevents transgender people from using bathrooms and locker rooms that do not match the gender on their birth certificates. A number of companies, including Google, Facebook, Apple, and IBM, have spoken out against theHouse Bill 2, and more than 80 CEOs signed a letter to North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory, urging him to repeal it.
In addition to denying North Carolina residents access to its mountains of porn, xHamster – which is one of the biggest websites of its kind and ranked 91st most popular site in the world – is presenting residents of the state with an informative popup that shows some of the searches performed by certain North Carolinians.
The Military-Evangelical Complex

There are evangelical Christians whom I love and respect. Nonetheless, it’s time to face this: The military-evangelical complex is not just politically dangerous; it’s a corruption of the Judeo-Christian tradition and thus of Western Civilization itself.
Definition
Let’s start by defining this clearly: The military-evangelical complex is an intricate partnership between the US government and thousands of churches, typically evangelical. These churches support and glorify government-authorized violence. Their messages to their members are clear: To enforce laws is noble and righteous; to bleed on a foreign battlefield is godly; the US military is a great force of goodness upon Earth; America, manifested especially through military action, is God’s special tool.
Every American past high-school age should recognize this description, but to be clear, here are a few exemplary images:
- It is announced in church that Johnny has joined the military. He is asked to stand and is heartily applauded by all.
- Memorial Day church services (or Veteran’s Day or July 4th) feature dedicated sermons and proud displays of flags and uniforms. There is effusive praise for soldiers, casting them as godly heroes.
- Military-themed ceremonies are held before every major sporting event.
- Children are encouraged to choose “service” as a life plan; if not in war, at least enforcing state laws.
- Enacting violence on behalf of the state is certain to get you public praise and pats on the back.
- Government-ordered violence is prejudged to be good and right.
- Funerals include the ritual touching of flags by military veterans.
- Churches promote slogans like, “Jesus died to save us; soldiers die to keep us free.”
- Rituals of saluting flags, singing anthems, and thanking soldiers for ‘service’ are obligatory.
Now, let’s be honest about this. Military service has become a sacrament in these churches; soldiers are the new missionaries, and wounded soldiers are the new martyrs.
And let’s be honest about something else: If we found records of such things in ancient inscriptions, we’d define them as the rituals of a military cult… and we would not be wrong.
How Did This Happen?

Larry Wayne Lindsey was NOT ‘turned away’ from the Colorado state convention

It appears that Trump supporters who have rallied behind Larry Wayne Lindsey have been schlonged.
Lindsey became an overnight sensation after the Trump Report Drudge Report highlighted a video of the wannabe Trump delegate burning his Republican party registration after pro-Cruz political insiders cast him aside. The trouble with Larry’s story is that it is a big fat lie.
Larry did not attend the county caucus, which is where he needed to go in order to get elected as a delegate to the state convention.
Crista Huff, a Republican activist in Colorado writes:
“On Saturday, April 9, 2016, a man named Larry from Douglas County, CO slandered Douglas County (CO) Republicans on Facebook. In that Facebook post, Larry claimed that he went to his neighborhood caucus meeting on March 1st, at which a precinct captain named Jan Morgan had threatened him about being a Trump supporter, with the implication that Trump supporters would not be allowed to be delegates to the April 9th State Republican Assembly.”
After some digging, Crista “learned that this ‘Jan Morgan’ person is not a precinct person in District 3, and might not exist at all…” She writes,
“On Sunday, April 10th, quite a variety of Douglas County caucus attendees, delegates, and Republican Party volunteers were interviewed, to determine exactly what took place. The paper trail was examined, from Larry’s caucus meeting, and from the Douglas County Assembly. None of the gentleman’s story holds water…”

David Codrea: Lexington Resolution on Militia-Suitable Firearms Looks like a Calculated Insult

“Article 34 receives a ‘yes’ vote from Lexington Town Meeting Members,” Gun Owners’ Action League alerted members last Thursday. The vote was to “initiate a ‘town wide discussion’ to pass a resolution urging the legislature to pass more restrictive laws related to firearms ownership.”
A GOAL blog post updated members on the April 6 meeting in which the vote took place, a meeting where that discussion being invited was closed down, leaving concerned citizen who’d taken the time to show up without a chance to have their say.
“For those that don’t know, Article 34 started as a ban on many commonly owned firearms and magazines,” the post explains. “This was quickly changed to a non-binding resolution when Lexington’s board of selectmen and chief of police refused to support a ban of any sort.”
It’s true enough that a mere “nonbinding resolution” represents a tremendous scaling back of the original subversive attack on the right to keep and bear arms (scroll to page 23):
This article would prohibit the manufacture, sale, ownership, or possession of assault weapons and high capacity ammunition magazines in the Town of Lexington.
The driving force behind that intolerable affront to liberty was no doubt inspired by the Supreme Court’s reluctance to even hear such cases, let alone overturn such local rulings. Refusal to grant cert to Friedman v Highland Parkmeans gun-grabbers who perceive the political climate will let them get away with it have no reason not to try for everything they get.

University of Toronto Dumps Transgender Bathrooms After Peeping Incidents

The administration at the University of Toronto was recently enlightened on why two separate washrooms are generally established for men and women sharing co-ed residencies.
The University is temporarily changing its policy on gender-neutral bathrooms after two separate incidents of “voyeurism” were reported on campus September 15 and 19. Male students within the University’s Whitney Hall student residence were caught holding their cellphones over female students’ shower stalls and filming them as they showered.

$3 Trillion Black Hole Could Destroy Economy: “True Extent of Pension Problem Has Been Obscured”

Yet another reason why taxes are going up, cities and states are going broke, and the world is approaching financial implosion…
As if the world needed another dangerous and volatile factor in the mix of looming economic downturn.
Unfunded liabilities for pensions have been a problem for a while now, but as investors continue to face fleeting returns, many states and cities are facing the music… and when it stops, there won’t be enough money to go around.
Someone will lose their savings, their standard of living, their retirement and maybe their future. Others will be taxed to death to clean up the mess of the many places were the system is cracked, fissured and falling apart.
According to FT:
The US public pension system has developed a $3.4tn funding hole that will pile pressure on cities and states to cut spending or raise taxes to avoid Detroit-style bankruptcies.
[…] the collective funding shortfall of US public pension funds is three times larger than official figures showed, and is getting bigger.

An Easy Delineation
It is easy to get caught up in today’s rhetoric and government abuses. After reading a headline where Bill Clinton wanted to apologize for his BLM fight, I thought that I had missed something. Doesn’t Bill support big government? Including the Bureau of Land Management?
I quickly realized my error: the BLM in newspeak is Black Lives Matters. I wonder how the ranchers out in the West fighting for their God given rights against tyranny feel about the liberal definition of BLM?
The delineation is clear:
Patriots know that the BLM is evil.
Politicians and looters believe that BLM is good. For their own interests.
