The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has declared it un-Islamic for courts to use ‘Khula’ (right of a woman to seek divorce) without the consent of a husband to dissolve a marriage.

The powerful religious body observed on Thursday that courts were dissolving nikkahs in the name of ‘Khula’, which is not correct since only the husband has the right to grant Khula after which courts can dissolve marriage contracts.

Urging civil courts to differentiate between ‘Khula’ and a unilateral dissolution of marriage through a court order, the CII said several women who had dissolved their marriages using ‘Khula’ were still not certain if their marriage had actually been dissolved.

I read, just this week, that North Carolina is the 3rd fastest growing state in the country behind only California and Texas. I suppose I should be proud of that. I’m not, particularly. I question how many of the immigrants to North Carolina are LEGAL.

We have had a great influx of folks from the Northern climes in recent years. They have had, we have heard, difficulty in assimilating into out Southern Culture. That is as it should be. We Southerners are, most assuredly, a different people with a different culture. And it is vitally important for all immigrants into the South to understand that the Southern Hospitality we are famous for, does have its limits.

Over the years I have been asked about our Southern Code of Honor. I assure you it does exist. It is written upon the heart of every Southerner having trod the scared soil of the South.

What is this legendary Southern Code the Southerners are so proud of anyway?

While many are still reeling from the outrageous shooting of LaVoy Finicum, and the aftermath of the Oregon standoff and arrest of patriots linked to it, there are other battles against the feds taking place across the country.

Much less attention was paid to Sheriff Brad Rogers, of Elkhart County in Indiana, who just successfully concluded his own showdown with federal officials from the FDA. The scenario was quite different, but the principals involved strike a similar chord – burdensome overreach and tyranny on the part of the federal government and its swarm of agents.

As activists have seen in many other cases, the FDA has gone after raw milk farmers and raw food proponents with frightening force – carrying out SWAT raids, trumped up arrests and destruction of food – all with no valid reason, and plenty of appearance of outright harassment.

Sheriff Rogers investigated a complaint from a constituent farmer and found that he sided with his case – there was no justified cause for invasive inspections happening repeatedly since 2011 every couple of weeks.

Basically, they were just looking for a reason to shut the farmer down, and Rogers put a stop to it.

The password for the San Bernardino shooter’s iCloud account associated with his iPhone was reset hours after authorities took possession of the device.

The Justice Department acknowledged in its court filing that the password of Syed Farook’s iCloud account had been reset. The filing states, “the owner [San Bernardino County Department of Public Health], in an attempt to gain access to some information in the hours after the attack, was able to reset the password remotely, but that had the effect of eliminating the possibility of an auto-backup.”

Apple could have recovered information from the iPhone had the iCloud password not been reset, the company said. If the phone was taken to a location where it recognized the Wi-Fi network, such as the San Bernardino shooters’ home, it could have been backed up to the cloud, Apple suggested.

To hear the establishment Republicans rail about Trump one would believe that he is merely a spring storm which will pass in time – I don’t think so. The same senators and congressmen that control the system and have been complicit in getting the United States into its current mess simply can’t understand why voters don’t want a president who will go along with the status quo and bask in the trappings of the White House.

To illustrate a case in point, before Justice Scalia’s body was even returned to his family, Senate Majority Leader McConnell was assuring America that he would not hold hearings or allow a vote on the late judge’s replacement. Unless McConnell has a crystal ball, he can but presume what type judge President Obama will nominate. Taking an obstructionist stance is just a little premature and reveals the gridlock that is the political norm in Washington on the Potomac. Before McConnell, then Majority Leader Reid used the same tactics to squelch any business which might have helped our nation.

Before we go further into this musing, I am not a fan of Donald Trump. But, looking at the Republican field he really doesn’t have that much in the way of opposition. There are two first term senators – one who has managed to alienate all his senate colleagues and the other who can’t seem to decide what position he wants to establish. Then there is a talented surgeon and quality individual who is completely out of his depth. That leaves a sitting governor who may be the most qualified, but can’t seem to get his message to gain traction. And lastly a former governor who is fortunate to have the Bush family name, but unfortunately has the Bush family name.

Shawna Cox, one of the last militants to be arrested for occupying an Oregon wildlife refuge last month, has filed a countersuit against the U.S. government and others in which she alleges “damages from the works of the devil in excess of 666,666,666,666.66.”

While she invoked the number of the beast in her request for damages, Cox listed a wide array of people she plans to subpoena, including: ranchers in the western U.S.; judges and prosecutors; Oregon’s current and former governor; local and state police officers; FBI agents; and “various law professors.”

Cox said she plans to ask a jury to deliver civil and criminal penalties against many of those same people, who she says have worked to subvert the constitutional government and impose “socialism, communism and imperialism types of government onto the people of the United States of America.”
